A sensational Day 2 of $5,300 The Return has come to an end after 16 hours that saw the day start with 369 players out of an original 1,142 field and as the final hand was completed just 53 players remained.

The chip leader at the close of shop was Bin Weng (2,395,000) who used a late-night surge, which included a huge hand where he rivered a set against the aces of Christopher Frank to send the two players hurtling in opposite directions in the chip counts.

Right behind Weng as the only other player with more than 2 million chips was Lanny Vaysman who ended second in chips with 2,050,000. The loquacious local player had an eventful day that saw him playing interesting hands all day long and he also caught fire in the last level to become one of the big stacks.

Christopher Ng (1,785,000) and Blake Bohn (1,500,000) also finished in the top five counts at the end of the night and rounding out the top five was none other than Sam Laskowitz (1,425,000) who won the $2,200 Mystery Bounty event here in the Borgata just a few days ago earlier in the series.

There are many big-name players still amongst the 53 remaining; including Joe McKeehen (950,000), Frank Funaro (605,000), Richard Alsup (490,000) and Anthony Zinno (475,000) as well as Dan Zack who at one point was among the chip leaders but had a rough end to the day to finish as the bottom stack with 135,000.

One of the highlights of Day 2 was the tense bubble where there were a few micro stacks who were battling it out as well as Aubrey Williams surviving by fading several outs to ultimately leave Tomasz Zakrzewski as the bubble boy.

Among the many notable players who were not able to make it to Day 3 were; Darren Elias who went out in the money and Nick Schulman as he fell in the final level of the night.

The remaining players will take to the felt at 12 noon local time where the levels will extend to 90 minutes on Day 3.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on hand throughout Day 3 for all of the updates

Weng Shreds Frank With Rivered Set

Level 20 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Bin Weng
Bin Weng

There was a big pot in progress as the board read {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{8-Spades} and a pot of at least 250,000 in the middle. From the small blind Christopher Frank bet 260,000. Bin Weng came along under the gun from under the gun to swell the pot to an even larger amount.

The river was the {4-Clubs}. Frank led-jammed all in and Weng snap-called.

Weng tabled the {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for a rivered set. Frank shook his head and showed his misfortune as he tabled the {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} as the table audibly reacted to the hand.

Frank looked like he had had his bell rung as he continued to shake his head and stare at the ceiling, continuously throwing his hands up with a stunned shrung. Meanwhile, Weng gathered the pot and became the big stack of the tournament.

Andrew Fegan
Andrew Fegan

Action was picked up on the river as the board read {k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{k-Spades}. Andrew Fegan put together a bet of 200,000 into a pot of roughly 240,000. Grant Lang asked the dealer how much before making the call after a few moments.

Fegan showed the case king with the {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} for quads. Lang tabled his beaten {j-}{j-} as he surrendered a portion of his stack to his left.

Action was picked up on the river with the board reading {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{8-Spades}{k-Clubs}. From middle position Lanny Vaysman bet 125,000 over to Christopher Frank who was in the big blind.

"You look like a Christoph" said Vaysman to Frank, apparently unaware that was very close to Frank's actual first name. Frank called.

"I have a straight" said Vaysman as he casually tossed open the {q-Clubs}{9-Spades}. "That's not the worst call you'll make tonight" he continued to Frank as he collected his chips.

Tomasz Zakrzewski was forced all in for his final 1,000 from the small blind after having seen two short stacks double on the hand before. He got one caller in Dan Zack. The players waited to table their hands.

Tomasz Zakrzewski: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Dan Zack: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The flop was bad news for Zakrewski as it came {a-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and the river came the {2-Spades} as he became the bubble boy and left as the last player eliminated without money in his pocket.

Williams and Spinella Survive on Tense Bubble

Level 17 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Aubrey Williams
Aubrey Williams

Anthony Spinella's final 12,000 was forced all in from the big blind as he was up against one opponent. While they waited for the all other hands before running the all in, there was more brewing at another table.

All in and call was heard at the table behind as the flop read as Audrey Williams had called the all in lead from Grant Lang to put her remaining 142,000 at risk.
....
Spinella's all in was run first

Anthony Spinella: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

The flop came {j-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. The turn hit Spinella much to the dismay of Williams and the two other micro stacks in the room as the {3-Hearts} paired his side card. The river came the {7-Spades} and Spinella breathed a sigh of relief as he survived.
....

It was then time to run the other all in as it was Williams' turn to sweat as she turned over the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} up against the {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} of Lang on a board of {4-Spades}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades}. The turn was the {9-Clubs} to make Williams stand up in anger as she initially thought the club made Lang a flush but the river was the {q-Spades} to miss Lang and Williams quickly realized that she had survived.

Meanwhile, Taylor Von Krigenbergh with just 2,000 and Tomasz Zakrzewski who had just 1,000 left after paying the big blind were left sweating for their lives as they saw both all ins result in doubles.

Bohn Snuffs Out Conniff

Level 17 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Asher Conniff
Asher Conniff

The flop read {8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. There was a chunky pot of 215,000 already in the middle. Asher Conniff checked from the big blind. Blake Bohn was under the gun and pushed forward a stack of big chips to force Conniff to risk his entire stack if he were to call.

"I don't think I can fold here" said Conniff. "I was planning to"

"Either way we will both be fine. Life will go on" said Bohn in response. A few seconds later, Bohn called.

Asher Conniff: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Blake Bohn: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Conniff had the lead but the turn was the {a-Clubs} and the river the {k-Hearts} to send him away and bring the field one closer to the bubble while Bohn collected the chips into his huge stack.

Klassen Collecting

Yi Klassen
Yi Klassen

Action came in on the river as the board read {a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs} with a pot of about 85,000 in it. From the big blind, Yi Klassen was facing a bet of 90,000 from her opponent who was under the gun.

She made the call after thinking for around 30 seconds. Her opponent showed the {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} for nothing while Klassen tabled the {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, which got her a few compliments from her tablemates on the call.

A few hands later her momentum continued as she forced her opponent to fold when she bet 43,000 on a board of {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{8-Hearts} to add more chips to her stack.

Maher Fills Up on River to Deny Normand Huge Pot

Jerry Maher
Jerry Maher

Action was on Jerry Maher in the big blind on the turn as the board read {k-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. He took his time first to act and after about a minute announced all in.

Frederic Normand snap-called from the hijack and tabled the {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for the turned flush. Maher shook his head and tabled the {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} and got ready to head out the door but just as he did the dealer procured the {a-Spades} on the river which filled him up to score the big pot for him and deny Normand what would have been a near million chip stack.
