$400 Mystery Bounty
Day 1ij Started
The 2024 Winter Poker Open at Champions Club Texas in Houston continues today with Day 1g and Day 1h (seventh and eighth of eleven starting flights) of Event #4: $400- $300,000 GTD Mystery Bounty!
Day 1i of the $400 buy-in event starts at high noon local time while Day 1j will kick off at 5:00 p.m. Both of these flights will have unlimited re-entries and registration will be open until the start of Level 9 (approximately 4:30 p.m. for 1i; 9:30 p.m. for 1j). It is also worth mentioning that it is the best bag forward, meaning that if a player has bagged already, they can re-enter in another flight to try and get a better stack and will also receive a $1,000 bag bonus for each additional bag.
Yesterday’s Day 1f was topped by Jason Burruss who put 673,000 into a bag, which means it is still Derek Normand who holds the top stack as he bagged the chip lead in Day 1e with 691,000.
The prizepool fell just shy of $300,000 last night, but it is sure to be easily surpassed by the end of first break in Day 1i.
Players will start with 30,000 chips, and levels will be 30 minutes in length, with a 15-minute break every four levels. Play continues in each opening flight until just 12% of the field remains, with those players in the money and advancing to Day 2, at which point the bounties will come into play.
The two-day event culminates with a live-streamed final table on Monday, February 12th once all survivors from the eleven opening flights have been thinned to nine remaining contenders. Those opening flight returnees will come back to the Champions Club poker room at noon on Monday to continue their chase for a big payday and to pull some big bounties!
Make sure to stay tuned for the next few days as PokerNews will have you covered for this event until a champion is crowned on Monday, so stay with us for all the action!

On a heads-up flop of K♠10♥2♠. Kamoru Yusef led for 500 and was then raised to 2,500 by Nicholas Burnett. Yusef calls the raise and the two continue to the turn J♥, where they both check.
The river fell the 9♠, bringing in the straight and the flush, and Yusef led for 5,000. After some thought, Burnett sighed and laid it down, at which point Yusef showed him Q♣Q♠ for a straight on the river.

Gary Horn opened to 1,100 from middle position and was called by Leobardo Zamora to his left and Paul summers on the button.
The flop came out 10♣K♠J♣ and Horn continued for 1,500, which both opponents called to see the 2♣ on the turn.
All three players then checked to the river 6♦, which saw Horn fire again for 2.500. Zamora then put in a raise to 7,000 and Summers quickly got out of the way, but this didn't scare Horn as he quickly tossed out calling chips.
Zamora flipped over A♥J♠ for a pair of jacks but Horn had him beat with Q♣Q♦ and he was awarded the pot.

After some back-and-forth preflop, Joe Rubel and Tran got all the chips into the middle, with Rubel at risk.
Rubel quickly realized that he really stepped in it when Tran tabled K♠K♣ while he held a dismal 3♠4♥.
However, a three did appear on the flop of A♥6♣3♣ for a good sweat, but he failed to improve on the Q♥10♦ runout and he was sent to the rail, vowing to return, after some food.
