A Preflop Raising War

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Michael Giardina
Michael Giardina

Michael Giardina opened to 11,000 under the gun and Steve Wilkie called in the hijack. Al Hart also called in the cutoff and then Eddy Konarske three-bet to 26,000 on the button.

Giardina came over the top, four-bet jamming for 101,500 and sending Wilkie into the tank. He eventually folded, announcing he folded ace-king once Hart and Konarske also folded behind.

"It would have been way behind!" said Giardina as he collected his newly earned chips, increasing his stack by nearly 50% without needing to see a flop to do so.

Rocco Palumbo
Rocco Palumbo

All of the chips went into the middle preflop with Rocco Palumbo all in from the hijack at a five-handed for 46,500. Roman Mai was his opponent, giving action from the big blind.

Rocco Palumbo: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Roman Mai: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

Palumbo's kings scored him the double after a runout of {a-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{a-Clubs}, bringing him back near 100K and leaving Mai with 26,000, one of the shortest stacks among the 11 still remaining.

Bobby Sanoubane
Bobby Sanoubane

Bobby Sanoubane re-jammed for 32,000 in the small blind over a cutoff-open from Rocco Palumbo. Palumbo called.

Bobby Sanoubane: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Rocco Palumbo: {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The runout {7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} brought the nuts for a different game, ultimately giving Sanoubane a wheel in this one and scoring him the double at Palumbo's expense.

"I've Got an Ace"

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Jason Dennis raised to 7,000 under the gun and was called by Steve Wilkie on the button. Action went heads up to a flop of {9-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{a-Clubs} and Dennis continuation-bet 5,000. Wilkie called.

The turn came {10-Clubs} and Dennis checked. Wilkie bet 10,000 and Dennis called, bringing the river {5-Clubs} where both players checked through to showdown.

"I've got an ace," said Wilkie after checking.

"Prove it," said the dealer.

"The ace of hearts!" exclaimed Wilkie, tabling {a-Hearts} and {3-Spades}, one after the other. Dennis looked up and across the table at WIlkie with a little smile and sent his cards to the muck.

Palumbo Hits 100K; Fuller Eliminates Welch

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jason Welch
Jason Welch

Rocco Palumbo opened to 4,000 in the cutoff and Thomas Fuller called on the button. Sherman Wu defended his big blind as well, taking multiway action to a flop of {4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. All three players checked.

The turn came {5-Hearts} and Wu led out for 11,000. Both Palumbo and Fuller called and the river fell {j-Clubs}. Wu checked and Palumbo bet 21,000, sending Fuller into the tank for a bit before he folded. Wu then folded behind, showing {5-Spades} as he sent his cards to the muck.

After the hand, Fuller asked Palumbo if he would have went with his hand had Fuller re-popped him, to which Palumbo looked up and shook his head affirmatively.

"I'm glad I didn't," said Fuller.

Moments earlier, Jason Welch was eliminated from the same table to bring the field down to 11, with Fuller confirming Welch got his stack into the middle preflop with two jacks against Fuller's pocket queens, the latter of which held.
