Konarske Continues Climbing

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Eddy Konarske
Eddy Konarske

Josh Williamson's seat was just seen vacated and Eddy Konarske confirmed with PokerNews that he did the deed.

According to Konarske, action folded to Williamson in the small blind and he raised. Konarske defended and called another continuation-bet on {5-}{5-}{8-}. The turn came {k-} and Williamson bet another 6,000. Konarske raised to 16,000 and Williamson three-bet jammed for his remaining stack, which Konarske called.

Josh Williamson: {7-}{6-}
Eddy Konarske: {j-}{5-}

Williamson's open-ended straight draw was up against Konarske's flopped trips and he was unable to complete it on the river {3-}, spelling the end of his tournament. Meanwhile, Konarske now has close to 200,000, making him the largest stack in the room among the 22 players currently in the tournament.

Bottom Pair Good for Konarske

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The board read {9-Spades}{3-Spades}{q-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} with 10,000 in the middle and action heads up between Josh Williamson in the big blind and Eddy Konarske, who was under the gun. Williamson checked and was now facing a 5,000 bet from Konarske, which he called.

Konarske showed {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for bottom pair, top kicker, which out-kicked Williamson's {10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}.

"You heroed me?!" joked Konarske, bringing laughter from both players as the pot was shipped Konarske's way.

Meanwhile, Josh Saltz has opted to re-enter and Steve Wilkie has also busted out and re-entered, bringing the field up to 34 entries with 23 players still in action.

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Salim Wahdan
Salim Wahdan

Salim Wahdan was in the big blind and facing a bet of 14,100 from John Beauprez, who was under the gun. The board read {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

After some time in the tank, Wahdan dropped in chips to call and tabled {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for second pair after missing his heart draw. Beauprez mucked.

Saltz and Keeline Eliminated

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Josh Saltz
Josh Saltz

A flop of {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades} saw Eddy Konarske in the big blind re-jam over a bet from Josh Saltz, who was on the button and had about 8,600 total that he called off.

Josh Saltz: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Eddy Konarske: {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Saltz was able to fade Konarske's open-ended straight draw but still found himself done in as running {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} came to give Konarske trips.

Moments earlier, the short-stacked Ben Keeline was also eliminated from the same table after seeing Konarske and Michael Giardina both hit a straight to chop what he had left. The pair of eliminations brings the field down to 21, with Thomas Fuller being moved to Table 8 to balance the tables at seven apiece.

Sanoubane Flops a Set on Wilkie

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Bobby Sanoubane
Bobby Sanoubane

Just moments after Steve Wilkie doubled via a flopped set of nines (and turned full house), Wilkie has confirmed he lost a chunk back by being given a taste of his own medicine.

According to Wilkie, he opened and received a call from Bobby Sanoubane in position. The flop came {3-}{4-}{5-} and Wilkie's continuation-bet was called.

"When the {9-} hit the turn and didn't connect with anything, I said I was all in," stated Wilkie. Sanoubane beat him into the pot for the rest of his stack.

Steve Wilkie: {10-}{10-}
Bobby Sanoubane: {4-}{4-}

A ten did not come on the river and Sanoubane scored dub with his set of fours.

Big Slick Doesn't Do the Trick for Le Peau

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Steve Le Peau
Steve Le Peau

Steve Le Peau open-shoved for his last 8,500 in middle position and Sherman Wu announced a three-bet to 20,000 on the button, forcing the two players behind him to fold.

Steve Le Peau: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Sherman Wu: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

"Nice hand," said Wu.

"Not yet," retorted Le Peau.

Le Peau picked up a sweat on the flop {4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} as Wu found himself with nine new additional outs to the nuts. None came on the turn {a-Clubs}, but the river {5-Diamonds} filled up his draw and spelled disaster for Le Peau, who was eliminated as a result.
