Collard Doubles With Cowboys

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Dwane Collard
Dwane Collard

A series of preflop raises from three players saw Dwane Collard put his stack of 100,000 into the pot in early position and receive action from Michael Hinde, who was in the cutoff.

Dwane Collard: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Michael Hinde: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

Collard's kings remained ahead through the runout {4-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for more than a full double, leaving Hinde with less than 10 big blinds after the hand was done.

Cummings to an End

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Rocco Palumbo
Rocco Palumbo

Phil Cummings re-jammed for around 60,000 in the hijack against an open from Rocco Palumbo, who was under the gun and called.

Phil Cummings: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Rocco Palumbo: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

"Ace-king versus ace-jack," announced the dealer before spreading the flop {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. Cummings began to walk away as the turn {6-Spades} left him drawing dead and the river {2-Spades} completed the runout and made the hand official.

Frei First to Fall

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Steve Wilkie
Steve Wilkie

Aaron Frei was the first player eliminated on the day, getting into an all-in preflop situation with Steve Wilkie. Frei opened on the button to 10,000 and Wilkie three-bet to 35,000 in the big blind. Frei four-bet jammed for just under 200,000 and Wilkie quickly called.

Frei's pocket sevens were shown two aces from Wilkie and he was unable to catch any help on the runout. Wilkie now has over 750,000 in the opening minutes of play in the day.

Quackenbush Gets Value from Dodson

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Ryan Dodson raised to 8,000 in early position and saw Chris Quackenbush three-bet to 24,000 in the small blind. Dodson called.

Both players checked the flop {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Spades} and Quackenbush fired out 25,000 on the turn {4-Clubs}. Dodson called, bringing the river {9-Hearts}, and Quackenbush bet another 30,000. Dodson thought for about 20 seconds and put out a chip onto the felt.

Quackenbush tabled his hand with both cards landing on top of one another. {k-Clubs} was displayed, and Quackenbush announced king-queen as he fanned a visible {q-Clubs} to display top two pair. Dodson mucked and the pot was shipped to Quackenbush.

Welcome To Day 2 of the 2021 Colorado Poker Championship $1,450 Main Event

Bally's Black Hawk
Bally's Black Hawk

Day 2 of the Bally's Black Hawk 2021 Colorado Poker Championship (CPC) $1,450 Main Event is set to begin at 11 a.m. local time with 47 players returning and having their sights set on making the final table. Three starting flights drew 307 entries and generated a total prize pool of $389,276 set to be paid out to the top 31 finishers. A full day of poker is on the books, as 47 will play down to nine before returning for the final table on Monday's Day 3.

Rocco Palumbo (554,500), Day 1a's chip leader, saw nobody catch him on the following two flights, and he will enter the day atop the counts with Day 1b chip leader Mike Kenny (546,000) following closely behind. Steve Wilkie (504,00) also comes into the day with a stack of above 500,000,

Others coming in with above-average stacks include Day 1c chip leader Jason Vanstrom (305,000), Jorden Helstern (265,500), last month's MSPT Black Hawk runner up Tyler Potts (213,500), and Ryan Dodson (201,000).

Play will resume with 7:35 remaining in Level 14 (2,000/4,000/4,000), the stopping point on all three Day 1 flights. Upon the beginning of Level 15, blinds will increase to one hour in length, creating even more opportunity for even more deep-stacked poker than Day 1's 40-minute levels offered.

As mentioned, the top 31 finishers will make it into the money, meaning there's still a lot of work left to be done for all still in contention to earn a payday. Not a single player will be coming into the day with less than 10 big blinds, as even the five shortest stacks to enter the day in Phil Cummings (60,000), Ian Pelz (72,500), Hassan Tahsildar (82,000), Peter Johnson (88,000), and Ben Keeline (92,000) will all have plenty of time and maneuverability to attempt an ascent up the counts.
