Coolbear

Welcome to Day 2 of the Coolbet Open €550 Main Event at Olympic Park Casino and Hilton Park Hotel located in the heart of the Estonian capital.

Players traveled from near and far, including from Japan, to play in the Main Event with a combined 491 entrants joining the field on Day 1 with the Day 1a field attracting 113 entrants and the Day 1b field attracting 378 entrants. This figure will continue to grow and certainly peek over 500 entrants as unlimited reentries are still allowed throughout the late registration period that will close after the first blind level is in the books today on Day 2.

A total of 208 players survived yesterday's action with Day 1b chip leader Vegard Dahl from Norway leading the way to start the day with a huge stack of 235,600 in chips. With 64 more surviving Day 1a, there are a total of 272 players advancing to Day 2 through opening flights.

Behind Christensen on the chip leaderboard are two more Norwegians with Morten Rosenkrantz in second place with 182,500 and Thomas Berg in third place with 163,400.

Westby Increases His Massive Stack after Kyte Doesn't Get His Diamond

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Tony Andre Westby
Tony Andre Westby

Tony Andre Westby began the day with 86,900 in chips and now has a massive stack of 390,000 after eliminating several opponents.

His latest victim was Norwegian poker pro Jon Kyte who started the day as a short stack and was down to 14,500 when he decided to make a move.

Westby opened to 2,600 from under the gun before Kyte jammed to 14,500 from the small blind. Westby snap called.

Jon Kyte: {K-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Tony Andre Westby: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

Kyte did not like what he saw.

"Why did you have that?" Kyte asked. "Why couldn't you have one of your random hands like eight-seven or jack-ten?"

The {A-Diamonds} was in the hole before the rest of the flop.

"Diamonds, please!" shouted Kyte.

But the rest of the {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{Q-Spades} flop didn't have any other diamonds for Kyte.

The {7-Diamonds} came on the turn and Kyte was asking for cards again.

"Diamond, king, diamond, king," Kyte repeated a few times.

However, the {A-Clubs} came instead of a diamond or a king and Kyte was eliminated.

Olufsen and Herold Eliminated

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Coolbear and Kim Herold
Coolbear and Kim Herold

We caught up with both Norway's Mariann Berg Olufsen and Finnish musician Kim Herold on the break. Their break was more permanent than some of the other players as both are out of the Main Event.

Olufsen shared she got her stack down short and three-bet jammed with {K-}{J-} and was called by the initial raiser with {Q-}{10-}. A {10-} hit the flop and Olufsen was unable to catch up.

Herold shared he lost most of his stack with {Q-}{Q-} against an opponent holding {2-}{2-}. Most of the chips went in after a {2-} was on the board. Afterward, the rest of his chips went into the middle and he was unable to pull out that hand either.

Both players are in great spirits despite their day ending a little bit earlier than they would have liked. Olufsen was off to dinner with friends while Holder shared he hoped to crush the pot-limit Omaha event tonight.

Kokk Back to the Beginning

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Janar Kokk
Janar Kokk

Janar Kokk, who has been diligently updating his stack via the MyStack app, is now down to near a starting stack.

He shared with PokerNews on the break that Jonas Bølge Tveit in middle position opened to 3,600 before he three-bet to 8,000 from one seat over.

Kokk got a call from Tveit before the {8-}{6-}{2-} came on the flop.

Kokk bet 15,000 before he called a jam from his opponent of 50,000. Kokk had an overpair with {Q-}{Q-} but was drawing to two outs as Tveit managed to flop top set with {8-}{8-}.

The {j-} on the turn and the {k-} on the river didn't help Kokk and he was down to 34,500 after the hand.

Estonian Jesus Has Risen

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante
Rauno Tahvonen
Rauno Tahvonen

We caught the tail end of a hand that Unibet Ambassador and one of the trio behind the 1 Year 1 Million vlog Rauno "Estonian Jesus" Tahvonen just effectively doubled up on.

A player limped before a second player raised to 7,000. Tahvonen three-bet to 19,000 before the initial raiser folded. The other opponent four-bet jammed for 70,000 and Tahvonen called.

Tahvonen had {Q-}{Q-} against his opponent's {A-}{K-}. The board was a safe one for Tahvonen and his stack grew to 250,000.

Siljander Wins Another

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Mathias Siljander
Mathias Siljander

The action went three-way to the {Q-Spades}{k-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop and with 23,000 in the pot.

Veli-Pekka Alakorva and Mathias Siljander both checked before Jon Sataoen bet 7,500.

Veli-Pekka Alakorva called and chip leader Mathias Siljander raised to 26,000. Sataoen called and Alakorva folded.

Siljander bet 60,000 after the {4-Clubs} appeared on the turn and got a call from Sataoen. Both players then checked after the {a-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Siljander turned over {q-Hearts}{4-Spades} for two pair which was good enough as Sataoen tossed his hand into the muck.

Nommik Ousts Eskeland

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Silver Nommik
Silver Nommik

Silver Nommik opened to 11,000 from early position before Sigurd Eskeland raised to 30,000 from the button.

Nommik asked how much Eskeland had and the dealer was reaching for Eskeland's chips before he stopped him.

Eskeland pointed out he didn't need to give a count since he wasn't all-in and pushed his chips forward in a way for Nommik to eyeball them.

Nommik shared he asked since he has trouble seeing and Eskeland was friendly and counted out he had 145,000 behind.

Nommik tanked for about two minutes before he four-bet jammed enough to cover his opponent.

Eskeland quickly called and turned over {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and was racing against the {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} his opponent turned over.

Eskeland bricked the {6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} board and was sent to the rail.

"There was nothing you could do," Nommik said to his opponent with a sympathetic tone as he was piling up his newly found chips.

The original raiser folded and Heiene called for 167,000 total.

Henri Mikael Schalin: {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Marius Hoihilder Heiene: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}
