Day 1b Started
Welcome to Day 1b of the 2018 Coolbet Open €550 Main Event hosted at Olympic Park Casino and Hilton Park Hotel.
Yesterday, the first-ever Coolbet Open Main Event kicked off in style by attracting 104 entrants or more than tournament organizers were estimating. Estonia's Dmitri Zatsik topped yesterday's field by bagging a huge stack of 163,700 in chips with United Kingdom's Craig Timmis (152,600) and Norway's Jan C. Kongsgard (150,300) not too far behind.
Today's field size is expected to be much bigger with all of the satellite qualifiers scheduled for the second and final opening day.
As was the case yesterday, players will begin the deep-stacked tournament with 30,000 in chips and blinds increasing every 45-minutes. Day 1b features eight blind levels with the action for the day expecting to end at approximately 8:30 p.m. EEST.

There is plenty of action each day at the Coolbet Open with 26 side events complementing the showcased Main Event. Tournament Director Teresa Nousiainen organized the schedule in a way that even if players are playing the Main Event they will have a chance to also play the festival's marquis side events as well.

Janar Kokk has come back to his home country for a stint and is in today's Day 1b field. Although from Estonia, Kokk can be in any country at any given time.
He is looking to win his first big live tournament in his home country and so far he is off to a good start.
On the very first hand of the day, a player on the button raised to 150 before Kokk three-bet to 400 from the small blind.
His opponent called and Kokk led out for 600 after the flop came . Kokk got a call before he led out for 1,300 after the came on the turn.

Today's field has already grown to 150 entrants. This is well more than the 104 entrants during the entire Day 1a.
The field will likely continue to grow in huge numbers as players late-register and reenter the tournament. Regardless of what happens the rest of the day, the first-ever Coolbet Open Main Event will go down in history as a huge success.
The Coolbet Open has not only attracted the everyday poker player but also celebrities, especially from Norway. Yesterday's Day 1a field featured Norwegian boxer Kevin Melhus, who survived his way to Day 2 tomorrow.
Today's field includes Norwegian singer Tone Damli, who has had many top 10 albums and songs on the Norwegian peak charts including Winner of a Losing Game in 2013.
Damli, who has two other family members in the field agreed to an interview on Facebook during the second break at around 6:15 p.m. EEST today. She did, however, add a caveat to giving us the exclusive interview.
"Only if I survive," shared Damli about whether the timing was good to speak live to the PokerNews audience.

Latvia's Gatis Reigass traveled in today to Tallinn and immediately hopped into the Main Event. If the early action is any indicator on the rest of his tournament, he should be in good shape.
He opened to 150 and was called by Jostein Nymoen in the big blind. Reigass led out for 150 again on the flop and called a raise from Nymoen to 325.
Both players checked when the appeared on the turn before the completed the board on the river.
Nymoen bet 300 before Reigass raised to 4,000. Reigass got a called and turned over for the nut straight flush while his opponent tossed his hand into the muck.
