Coolbet Open
Coolbet Open

Welcome to Day 2 of the Coolbet Open €550 Main Event at Olympic Park Casino and Hilton Park Hotel located in the heart of the Estonian capital of Tallinn.

The Main Event has proven to be an amazing success with a combined 445 entrants joining the field on the two opening flights with the Day 1a field attracting 130 entrants and the Day 1b field attracting 315 entrants. This figure will continue to grow and is expected to peek over 500 entrants as unlimited reentries are still allowed throughout the late registration period that will close after the first blind level is in the books today on Day 2.

A total of 148 players survived yesterday's action plus 63 more on Day 1a for a total of 211 advancing to Day 2 via opening flights. Day 1a chip leader Tobias Revenas from Sweden who bagged 293,500 leads the way to start the day with a huge stack of 293,500 with the Day 1b chip leader Tarvi Eller from Estonia being the only other player over 200,000 in chips with a Day 2 starting stack of 226,300.

Early Ending for Joel Lindpere

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Joel Lindpere
Joel Lindpere

Former footballer and Coolbet Ambassador Joel Lindpere was looking forward to competing on Day 2. Unfortunately for him, his day has come to an early end.

He opened the button for 5,000 and Heine Eide defended from the big blind. Eide check-raised a bet from Lindpere from 16,000 to 37,000 after the {5-Spades}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds} came on the flop.

Lindpere jammed his stack of 57,000 and Eide snap-called.

Joel Lindpere: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Heine Eide: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}

Although Lindpere was ahead before the flop he needed some help after the money came in. He was ousted after neither the {k-Hearts} on the turn nor the {5-Hearts} on the river was able to save him.

Lindpere shared that although he has the option to re-enter he will instead call it a day and opt to stay on the sidelines for the rest of the tournament.

Jari Saviaho Eliminated in a Wild Hand

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jari Saviaho
Jari Saviaho

A wild hand just happened where four players were all-in.

It all began with Chriss Jonassen jamming for about 10 big blinds before Martin Mannamaa came over the top for about 23 big blinds. Nils Harstad started laughing before he jammed for a huge stack over the top and Jari Saviaho called off his stack for what appeared to be less than 20 big blinds.

Chriss Jonassen: {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Martin Mannamaa: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Nils Harstad: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Jari Saviaho: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Jonassen's rail came around and immediately were shouting for a seven. They then were instead shouting for an eight after the {9-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop gave Mannamaa top set and Jonassen a gutshot straight draw.

The rail erupted after the {8-Diamonds} came on the turn. At this point both Saviaho, who needed a queen on the river, and Jonassen, who needed to avoid a queen or Mannamaa improving to a boat were most at risk.

The {3-Spades} completed the board on the river and Saviaho was eliminated. Jonassen was able to find a rare quadruple up and Mannamaa earned a few chips thanks to the side pot.

Coolbet's Expectations Smashed

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante
Oleksii Lubnin and Ervin Jarvsepp
Oleksii Lubnin and Ervin Jarvsepp

The payouts are being finalized. However, it has been confirmed in the meantime that 521 entrants participated in the 2019 Coolbet Open Main Event generated a huge €252,685 prize pool.

Coolbet couldn't be more thrilled about the turnout.

"A year ago, we hosted the very first Coolbet open where we saw a prize pool of €206,125 and had 425 entries," said Coolbet CMO Ervin Jarvlepp." For this event we hoped to at least match those figures. It seems that players appreciate what we've been doing as all our expectations have been exceeded with 521 entries a prize pool of €252,685!"

Jarvlepp had some great news for Coolbet Open fans as the festival will be back again at the end of the year.

"Due to such a warm welcome, I'm very glad to reveal that we're expecting to see all the 'cool' players again in six months," Jarvlepp shared. "The Coolbet open will return for its fourth-edition on November 13-17 and it will be bigger than ever!"

Cobb Out on a Big Flip

Barry David Cobb
Barry David Cobb

Aki Oskari Virtanen four-bet jammed covering the 120,000 or so Barry Cobb began the hand with and Cobb call..

It was a huge flip for a pot close to 250,000 in chips with Virtanen holding {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and Cobb with {a-Spades}{q-Spades}. Cobb was unable to hit a piece of the {7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{6-Spades}{k-Spades}{10-Clubs} board and was eliminated from today's action.

Hedlund Takes Out Hurri

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Jari Hurri
Jari Hurri

Peter Hedlund is one of the most successful players still in the field with more than $1.1 million in career cashes. Jari Hurri and Hedlund were chatting it up for the past two hours but that time has come to an end.

Hedlund, who didn't look at his cards, completed the blinds from the small blind and Hurri checked behind from the big blind.

Hedlund checked after the {3-Spades}{a-Hearts}{7-Spades} came on the flop. Hurri bet 5,000 and Hedlund, who by this time looked at his cards, shoved all his chips in the middle in a disorganized fashion and Hurri called for the about 125,000 left in his stack.

It was a bit of a cooler for Hurri as he held {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and was well behind the {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} held by Hedlund. Hurri was officially eliminated after the {7-Diamonds} came on the turn and the {5-Diamonds} came on the river.

Hedlund seemed sincere when he apologized to Hurri for taking him out of the tournament as the two of them appeared to develop a new found friendship at the Coolbet Open.

Laasik in the Chip Lead

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Kasso Laasik
Kasso Laasik

Kasso Laasik is in the chip lead with 750,000 in chips with the help of just winning a hand against Jim Johan Lijendal.

Lassik bet 75,000 into a pot of a bit more with the {5-Spades}{a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} on the board. Lijendal went into the tank for about three minutes before he made the call.

Lassik turned over {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for trips and won the hand after Lijendal mucked.

"Oh come on," said Lassik to his opponent. "You can afford it. You just won a hand off me recently.

Coolbet Founder Jan Svendsen, who is also at the table had a different take.

"It looks like you can afford it more than him," said Svendsen referring to Lassik's big stack and Lijendal's below average one.
