Thomas Quigley Wins The Deepstacks Poker Tour Breeders' Cup Celebrity Charity Invitational!

Level 13 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Well what an action packed few hours of poker we had here at Commerce Casino. Over 90 players brought in for the invitational, and at the end, Thomas Quigley stood alone at the top as the winner. Quigley, Michael Mizrachi, Tom Kamb, and Ray Henson made a four way chop, with Quigley being declared the official winner.

The mood was light throughout the night, with players kicking back drinks and having fun. Some players brought their best poker face and serious game, while some decided to have fun and gamble it up. No player personified this more then the host, Mr. Mizrachi. Mizrachi played virtually every hand, and towards the end of the tournament, he was shoving most hands. This lead to a ton of eliminations, including back-to-back knockouts of Mike Matusow and David ODB Baker.

The final nine players were all awarded with tickets to The Breeders' Cup this weekend. For some, it was a great thrill to go to such a sporting event, while the established pros at the final table were simply there for the good times and thrills of playing poker. Overall, it was a fun filled night, and turned out to be a success from all accounts.

That wraps it up here at the Commerce Casino! Congratulations go out to Thomas Quigley for being the official winner of the tournament, and to Tom Kamb, Ray Henson, and Michael Mizrachi, who will all be keeping a close eye on the horse races this weekend. Thanks for tuning into Pokernews.com, and good night everyone!

Mizrachi Takes Overwhelming Chip Lead...Again

Richard Lewis, who had secured a couple double ups to get to 120,000, raised it up to 20,000. Michael Mizrachi was next to act, and he moved all in, having everyone else covered. It folded back around to Lewis, and he quickly made the call. Mizrachi joked that he had aces, when in fact he was dominated.

Lewis: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Mizrachi: {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

The flop brought no help for Mizrachi, as it came down {q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Mizrachi asked the dealer for the seven, and of course, the dealer oblidged, bringing the {7-Spades} on the turn. The river brought the {6-Hearts}, and just like that, Mizrachi is over 300,000, and has over half the chips in play.

Mizrachi On a Run of Epic Proportions

Michael Mizrachi- Overwhelming chip leader
Michael Mizrachi- Overwhelming chip leader

Well it doesn't seem like anyone will be stopping Michael Mizrachi today. He is on an unheard of heater, and he's knocked out two of the biggest names left in the tournament on his way.

In the first hand, action folded around to Mike Matusow on the button, and he shoved his last 20,000 in the middle. Action folded to Mizrachi, who instantly made the call. Mizrachi tabled, {k-Spades}{10-Spades}, which was miles ahead of Matusow's {10-}{2-}, and Mizrachi held to win the hand.

Just a few hands later, we heard a huge commotion from Mizrachi's table, so we went over to hear what happened. Karina Jett let us know that on a flop of {a-}{j-}{4-}, David ODB Baker was all in holding {a-}{q-}. He was in great shape, as Mizrachi held a measly {10-}{8-}. The turn kept Mizrachi in the hand, coming a {k-}. Mizrachi started chanting for a queen, and sure enough, a {q-}spiked on the river. The table and their rail exploded, while Baker stood up and laughed off the ridiclous beat.

After that hand, Mizrachi stands with about 180,000, which is a quarter of the chips in play with two tables left.

Matusow Doubles Up Virtually Drawing Dead

Matusow Pulls a Miracle
Matusow Pulls a Miracle

Action folded around to a player with a petite stack of 700, and he moved all in. Mike Matusow was next to act, and he moved in for 8,100. It folded around to the big blind, and he tanked for about 30 seconds before calling it off. When the cards were table, Matusow couldn't help but laugh at loud.

Opponent 1: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Opponent 2: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}

Upon seeing the hands, Matusow yelled "I'm F***ing drawing dead. What's drawing dead ladies and gents?" Eventually, he tabled {j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, and indeed, The Mouth was drawing very slim. He would need some sort of straight draw, or the last eight in the deck to claim a majority of the pot. Well he did just that, as the flop came down {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. The board completed {4-Diamonds} and {7-Clubs}, and Matusow let the whole room know just how lucky he got.

After the hand, Matusow shot up to 17,000.
