18 Players Looking for €36,000 on Final Day of EAPT Bucharest Main Event

Out of a total field of 486 entrants, only 18 players remain on Day 3 of the 2023 €560 Eurasian Poker Tour Main Event at the 888poker Room in Bucharest.

In just a few hours, one of them will be crowned an EAPT Champion and win the €36,000 first-place prize. But there is still a long way to go before lifting the trophy. The way may be a little shorter for the only foreign player left in the field, Gheorghe Butuc, who ended Day 2 as the chip leader with 2,725,000 chips.

But the battle will be tough, as all the other players, especially Razvan Paduraru (2,300,000) and Sebastian Ionita (2,000,000), the biggest stacks, will try to stop him and keep the trophy in Romania.

Day 1b Alexandru Mitracu (1,170,000) and Day 2 Ionut Voinea (1,045,000) can also hope for a seat at the final table, along with Cristian Rajala (1,340,000), Andrei Nodea (1,060,000) or Silviu Baltateanu (460,000) and Andrei Iordache (440,000), the two shortest stacks.

Day 3 is scheduled to begin on at 2 p.m. local time. Play will resume with 40:00 remaining on Level 23, which features 20,000/40,000 blinds with a 40,000 big blind ante. Then, levels will increase to 60 minutes. The feature table will also be streamed on the EAPT’s official YouTube channel as they play down to a winner.

After a few hands without any action, Iulian Dragan moved all in for 625,000 from the hijack. Then Bogdan Trifanescu shoved in the small blind, and the big blind folded.

Dragan asked for an ace. And he was heard as an ace and a queen landed on the flop on a board of A♠9♥Q♠J♠7♣.

It turned out that Trifanescu was slightly covered, so he became the first eliminated player of the day.

Andrei Iordache Eliminated in 17th Place (€2,225)

While Gheorghe Butuc was extending his lead against Cristian Rajala to reach 3,800,000, Andrei Iordache on the second table went all in for roughly 300,000 in middle position. Then Vlad Murgulet three-bet shoved for 1,135,000. But what he didn't expect was that Razvan Paduraru called in the small blind with the biggest stack.

John Two shoved for 460,000 from the button, then Silviu Baltateanu moved all in too for 490,000 in the small blind.

In the big blind, Cosmin Dima looked at his cards, and went deep into the tank. But he eventually called with the largest stack.

The two short stacks were on the edge of elimination after the flop 4♠3♥2♣. But John Two couldn't dream of a better runout, as he hit trips with the turn 9♣ and the river 9♥.

Thanks to this pot, he tripled up while Baltateanu was eliminated. Fuming, Dima jammed a few hands later but split the pot with Vlad Murgulet as they both had AxKx.

Top Pair and a Big Pot for Murgulet

In a blind versus blind situation, Vlad Murgulet in the small blind was thinking in front of a board of 10♠3♣8♥6♦2♦. After a few seconds, he took a pile of chips worth approximately 500,000 and pushed it forward.

To his left, Alexandru Mitracu went deep into the tank. He prepared a pile of chips as if he wanted to call, and he eventually did.

But his cards went directly into the muck when Murgulet showed K♠10♣ for top pair.

Andrei Nodea was on the button when he moved all in for 470,000 from the button. Cristian Rajala, who just won a substantial pot on the previous hand, three-bet all in in the small blind, and made the big blind fold.
