Epic Poker League Main Event #1 Kicks Off at Noon

Epic Poker League Main Event #1
Epic Poker League Main Event #1

Welcome to the inaugural event of the Epic Poker League. As its name already mentions, this event should be nothing short of epic with the best of the best coming out and plopping down the $20,000 buy-in to give it a shot.

Already spotted around the Palms are Jason Mercier, Victor Ramdin, Noah Schwartz, Vanessa Rousso, Matt Glantz, Randy Dorfman, Rep Porter, David Peters, Matt Graham, Eric Froehlich, David "Bakes" Baker, McLean Karr, Marco Johnson, Mike Sowers, Allen Bari, Matt Brady and Jason DeWitt.

The Epic Poker League kicked off earlier this week with a $1,500 Pro/Am and 190 players came out for that event. Out of those 190, the top nine received $20,000 entries into this Main Event. Those players include Sean Getzwiller, George Long, Dan Fleyshman, Micah Raskin, Jeremiah DeGreef, Clifford Waite, Brandon Meyers and the event's winner Steve O'Dwyer. Andy Bloch placed third in the event, but already had his qualification into the Epic Poker League. For winning the event, O'Dwyer received $23,810 and a $20,000 Main Event seat.

This Main Event, which is the first of four, is scheduled as a six-max event with each player starting with 50,000 in chips. The blinds will start at 100-200 and the levels will be 90-minutes long. Day 1 will last a total of six full levels and registration is allowed until after Level 5. To go along with that great structure and plenty of play allotted, there will be $400,000 in added money to the prize pool.

Play is set to kick off at 12:00 PM local time here at the Palms in Las Vegas. Be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews for all the live coverage from the event. It's going to be a great one -- scratch that, an epic one!
