Theo Tran Wins Clutch Coinflip

Theo Tran just tangled with chip leader [Removed:133] in a coinflip which saw Tran's tournament life hanging in the balance. The exact action is unclear but Tran's chips ended up in the center defending his {9-?} {9-?} against the {J-?} {10-?} of Cournut.

The {9-?} on the flop left Cournut drawing to a runner-runner straight that never came. Tran chipped up to just over 10,000 on the hand.

Current Chip Leader

Michael Lundell
Michael Lundell
A quick scour around the card room informs me that Swedish player Mikael Lundell is your current chip leader with 83,000. Not too far behind, however, is [Removed:133] (whom I have affectionately named "Coconut" after repeated mispronunciations) on 72,100 and WSOP bracelet winner Davidi Kitai with 55,000. Behind them you have a returning Kristian Ulriksen (48,000) and another recent bracelet winner in Sebastian Ruthenberg (47,000). But who will be chip leader in 90 minutes' time? It's still anybody's game...

Cucumber Cool

On a board of {J-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}, Norwegian pro Kristian Ulriksen raises his opponent's raise of 2,100 to 6,500. With his Top Gun shades, unbuttoned shirt, and unmoving facial expression, Ulriksen remains cooler than a cucumber in the North Pole before his opponent finally makes the fold. Ulriksen is now on 53,000.

Minieri Gives Some Back

Dario Minieri
Dario Minieri
We caught up to this hand at showdown. Dario Minieri was shipping a healthy stack of chips towards an opponent. The Italian's {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} couldn't outrun the {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} of his opponent and came up short on the {Q-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {8-Spades} {J-Spades} {3-Diamonds} board. Minieri slipped to just under 6,000 chips on the hand.

Not a Happy Chappy

Edu Sequela
Edu Sequela
With one limper, Edu Sequela limped behind with K-5 suited, only for another player to make it 3,400 to go. Back round to Edu, who then made a squeeze play, moving his man all in for an additional 10,000.On this occasion, however, Sequela was caught red-handed as his opponent quickly made the call with pocket jacks.

As both players watched the felt intently, a cruel king hit the flop to virtually secure Sequela the pot. A blank turn and river sealed the deal, and victory was his.

His defeated opponent, meanwhile, was fuming like petrol, removing his hat from his head and almost throwing it... but eventually resisting. After mumbling various profanities under his breath, he eventually departed, leaving a jubilant Sequela to add more chips to his now 35,000 stack.

[Removed:133] Not Letting Up

On-again, off-again chip leader [Removed:133] is still mixing it up any chance he get. Cournut just sent another player home when his {9-Hearts} {9-Spades} held up against the {A-Clubs} {4-Spades} of his shorter-stacked opponent.

Cournut is no stranger to moving his chips around and is frequently involved in the action. He doesn't win every time, but he's gradually picking up steam with each passing level. He is currently commanding a stack of just over 95,000.

Kristian Ulriksen Loses Ground

Kristian Ulriksen's once-formidable stack has been decimated, courtesy of a cruel turn card. On a board reading {K-?} {8-?} {6-?} {6-?} Ulriksen led at the pot for an 8,000 bet, only to have his opponent move all in for 22,000. Ulriksen made the call and tabled {K-?} {8-?} only to cast eyes on his opponent's {Q-?} {6-?}. The river blanked out and about 30,000 worth of Ulriksen's stack was shipped across the table.
