Helfried [Removed:349] Doubles Through Pier Ruscalla

Action folded to Pier Paolo Ruscalla in the cutoff and he opened for a raise to 6,500. When it got to Helfried [Removed:349] in the big blind, he announced "all in." After a count, it was determined to be a total of 32,800 and Ruscalla made the call. The players showed:

Ruscalla: {A-Spades} {J-Clubs}
[Removed:349]: {4-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}

The board ran out {Q-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} and [Removed:349]'s fours held. He doubled up to just under 70,000

Tightening Up

As we approach the money, play has tightened up considerably. Many players seem reluctant to get involved with a premium holding. Needless to say, the aggressive players are taking advantage of this and winning a lot of pots with a late position preflop raise.

Big Stacks Emerge

Over the last couple of levels, a number of big stacks have emerged, many of which have come from nowhere to threaten the chip leaders. For example, Hafiz Khan is suddenly a contender with 133,000, as is Maz Nawab on 168,000. Also San Remo champion Jason Mercier is looking good on 135,000, not to mention young Swedish hotshot Ramzi Jelassi who has 168,000 and Jonas Klausen on 208,000. However, it's a German who leads the way, Sebastian Ruthenberg top of the pile with a monstrous 230,000.

Girl Power

Sheryl Lea Gershon
Sheryl Lea Gershon
Of the 619 entrants to this event, there are just two women remaining. Maria Maceiras and Sheryl Lea Gershon are the two female players left standing. Both seem relatively unfazed by their chromosomal outnumbering.

Gershon is currently sitting on a stack of about 40,000 while Maceiras is doing quite while with just over 125,000 chips.
