Cowboys Gunned Down by the Ladies

With {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} versus {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}, Phidias Georgiou was looking good for another notch on his poker bedpost, but a cruel {4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs} board soon put pay to that as he as was forced to hand over 11,725. Clearly enraged by his misfortunes, Georgiou rose from his seat and looked as though was going to go green and erupt from his clothes, but to his credit, he managed to maintain his composure and play continued, albeit with a depleted stack of 19,500.

Jon Kalmar Eliminated

Recently spotted on the sidelines was Ladbrokes pro Jon Kalmar, his exit coming in the form of an uneventful A-8 versus A-10 encounter. "I'm going to go buy loads of drinks from the bar," were his parting words.

Max Pescatori = The Italian Terminator

Perhaps we should give Max Pescatori a new nickname? The Italian Pirate moniker is sooooo 2005. Pescatori just busted another player. His opponent made a move from late position and shoved all in. Pescatori called from the big blind with A-J. His opponent sheepishly tabled K-2 offsuit. Pescatori's A-J held up and he increased his stack to over 35,000.

The Apple Unpeeled

Craig "The Apple" Hopkins can be added to the recent list of eliminees. He pushed UTG for 4,800 with {A-?}{K-?}, but was looked up by the big blind who had {A-?}{7-?}. Obviously the board was unfavorable, and the EPT Bahamas finalist was done.

I don't normally condone criticism of someone's play, but for mere pun value alone I think we have to let the words of a fellow blogger slide... "His call was rotten to the core." Sigh.

Good Call from Mattern

On a {K-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} board, Arnaud Mattern's check on the river was followed by a bet of 6,500 from his immediate neighbor. Mattern delivered a piercing stare to his foe before making a good call with {K-Spades}{7-Spades}. His wounded opponent showed {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

As a result, Mattern has increased his count to circa 50,000.

May the Gorce be With You

I joined the action with the board reading {4-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} and Guillaume de la Gorce facing a bet of 5,000. Like his fellow countryman in the post prior, de la Gorce made an equally good call with {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, his opponent teasing by declaring, "Two pair," before showing a {4-Spades} and mucking.

De la Gorce is now on 58,000.
