Close Shave for the Raiser

With Gus Hansen raising it up from UTG, Ian Frazer decided to push all in from the button with {A-?}{5-?}. Sadly for the Croydon man, he was snapped-called, Hansen biting his arm off with pocket kings.

However, this could be Frazer's day, the ace and five on the flop serving up a double whammy and increasing his stack of 20,000 two fold.

These two have been battling back and forth like a game of Pong and are definitely proving entertaining viewing. If there's one table to keep an eye on, then this is the one.

Tann Struggling

I caught up with Willie Tann during the break as he was bemoaning a lack of cards. "I haven't played a hand yet," he claimed. As a result, Tann has been blinded down to 17,300 and will be searching for a spot to double through.

Drama for Grech

"I got my full money's worth on that one river card," commented Joe Grech as he retold a hand from earlier. "I had two shorter stacks all in with pocket tens; they had eights and nines. The board came K-6-7-8... 9 to give me the straight."

As a result of that dramatic encounter, Grech now has 45,000 after starting the day with peanuts.

Trips Tens Keeps De Wolfe from the Door

After receiving no action with pocket jacks in the big blind the hand prior, Roland De Wolfe dropped down a notch with pocket tens the next hand. There was action before him though, the cut-off moving all in for just 1,600, the button making it 4,200 and De Wolfe shoving from the small blind. With the button ducking out of the way, we had a showdown, De Wolfe's {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} looking to avoid a king against his foe's {K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. Although a king arrived on the flop, so did a ten, the board coming {J-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} to see De Wolfe jump up to 35,000.

Some Random Droppings

Access to the tournament area is very limited at the moment as the field dwindles down to around 100 or so.

Vanessa Rousso took a hit and slipped to 40,000.

The cool and casual Nicholas Levi from France doubled up earlier in the day and has 36,000.

The stoic Russian Alex Kravchenko has around 18,000.

The hyper-aggressive Swede Erik Friberg is up to 80,000.

Hussein Yilmaz and Portugal's Joao Barbosa are past the 150,000 chip mark.
