Arnaud Mattern Goes on Rampage and Gets Outdrawn; Eliminated in 5th Place (€72,724)

Arnaud Mattern was spotted emptying a sachet of something that from across the table looked suspiciously like Alka Seltzer into a glass of water. Whatever that was about, he suddenly turned into a raising machine, and found himself cursed.

Atanas Gueorgiev open-shoved for 128,000 under the gun, and after a moment's thought, Mattern re-shoved. Everyone folded, and Gueorgiev was dominated.

Gueorgiev thus doubled up.

The next hand, down to 240,000, Mattern clawed a few chips back from Minieri, raising to 36,000 under the gun and shoving to a reraise to 107,000 from Minieri on the button. Minieri started to ponder out loud what Mattern might have. "Don't think about my hand. Gimme some chips," said a weary Mattern. Minieri, however, folded.

A few hands later, though, the real disaster took place. Mattern raised to 36,000 from the button, and Joao Barbosa made it 92,000 from the small blind. Mattern shoved, Barbosa called, and it was looking good for the be-aviatored Frenchman.

Joao Barbosa completed the small blind, Dario Minieri made it an additional 31,000 to go and Barbosa called.

The flop was {10-Diamonds}

and both players checked. Same store on the {4-Diamonds}

that fell on the turn. The river came the {9-Clubs}

and Barbosa bet 50,000. Minieri called.

Barbosa turned up {A-Hearts}

for the rivered pair of nines and Minieri mucked.

Atanas Gueorguiev opened for 34,000 and Joao Barbosa called on the button. The flop came down {K-Diamonds}

. Gueorguiev checked, Barbosa bet 35,000, Gueorguiev moved all in and Barbosa called.

Though Gueorguiev had his opponent dominated and the turn was a safe-looking {9-Hearts}

, the

cruelly spiked on the river, making Barbosa two pair and eliminating Gueorguiev. He'll take home €87,973 for his performance here in Warsaw.

Behling Doubles Through Barbosa

flop; Behling bet out 50,000 and Barbosa called. Barbosa in fact called Behling down every street, 60,000 on the {2-Diamonds}

turn and Behling's all in for 151,000 on the {6-Diamonds}

river -- at which point Barbosa flipped over {J-Spades}

and Behling showed {A-Diamonds}

for a full double up to around 560,000.

Barbosa still on a massive 1.2 million.

Behling Makes a Flush

Blind on blind with Minieri limping in from the small and Behling checking in the big again, they saw and checked an {A-Hearts}

flop. Minieri bet out a just-more-than-minimum 14,000 on the {2-Clubs}

turn which Behling called, and they saw a {7-Spades}

river. Minieri checked, Behling bet a bigger-than-pot 84,000 and Minieri called -- but mucked when Behling turned over {9-Spades}

for the flush.
