Day 1b Preview

Throughout the day we've spotted a number of well-known pros scoping out the competition, most of whom will play in tomorrow's Day 1b flight. Some of the players we've seen lurking around the poker room are: Greg Raymer, Mel Judah, Sorel Mizzi, Rolf Slotboom, Mark Teltscher, Thierry van den Berg, Eric van der Berg, Nicky Roeg, Joris Jaspers and Pascal Perrault.

Stephan Thiele-Bolivar Gets Involved

Anthony Chatelain - Busted!
Anthony Chatelain - Busted!
Rubik's cube guy, Stephan Thiele-Bolivar, just busted Anthony Chatelain and whilst stacking his chips he called a raise from Dario Minieri. The flop came down {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{6-Spades} and he check-raised the short-stacked Italian all in. Dario made the call with {A-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, two pair good against Stephan's {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. The turn and river bricked to double up Dario.

Anders Berg Busts Another

Anders Berg was in the big blind as another short stack moved all in pre-flop. Anders made an easy call with {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}, which was ahead of the short stack's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. It stayed ahead and for the second big blind in a row Anders Berg busted a player having to call an all-in.

Anders Berg Busted

Once again Anders Berg gets involved from the big blind. This time, he calls a raise and then pushes on the {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop, getting insta-called by his opponent's {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}. Anders has {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, but the {10-Diamonds} and {Q-Hearts} are no help and he is eliminated.

Anastasyadis Making Strides

Kosta Anastasyadis
Kosta Anastasyadis
Short-stacked to the point where he was going all in practically every third hand, T6 Poker's Kosta Anastasyadis has made a monumental comeback, surviving each and every all-in and chipping back up to stack of approximately 12,000.

James Honeybone Suffers a Setback

On a {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop, James Honeybone raised a 3,000 bet to 8,000, and then faced an all-in coming back at him for 12,000 total. Priced in, he made the call and showed {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} which was a long way behind the {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} of his opponent. No help on the turn or river and the New Zealander loses a 27,000-chip pot.

Kolk Crippled by Okumus

T6 sponsored pro Marek Kolk has just been crippled by German foe Alp Okumus. Kolk took A-K to battle against Okumus' {10-Spades}{7-Spades}. "My birthday," Okumus told us, in reference to his hand. "Nobody beats me on my birthday," the German said.

An early present, the dealer spread a {2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{J-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} board giving Okumus a jack-high flush and almost 20,000 in new chips. Kolk was left with just 3,500 after the hand.

Dario = Eliminario

Young PokerStars pro Dario Minieri, who "The Simpsons" co-creator Sam Simon likened to Harry Potter during last summer's WSOP, has recently been eliminated from the tournament.
