Graham Clarkson Doubles Up

Scottish player Graham Clarkson moved all in from the small blind after the button had made it 2,600. He was called and Graham's {K-Diamonds}

was behind the {A-Spades}

of his opponent.

The flop was {A-Diamonds}

giving Graham the straight and redraw to a flush although he turned away in dismay initially as the doorcard was the ace. The turn was the {A-Clubs}

and the river a safe {2-Spades}

to put Graham up to 32,000.

Eric Koskas started the day second in chips but he just won a 45,000 chip pot against Roberto Romanello which puts him in the lead with 130,000. The action up until the river was not known but there was already 31,000 in the pot and Roberto bet 7,000 with the board reading {Q-Spades}

. Koskas made the call with {Q-Diamonds}

which beat Romanello's {J-Hearts}

Daniel Negreanu Gets a Clutch Double Up

A shortstacked Daniel Negreanu found himself one player away from getting a walk in his big blind. When action got to the small blind however, he put in a raise to 2,600. Negreanu peeked down at his cards and then perked up with interest. "Let me do some quick math here," said Kid Poker. "You might have like queen-eight...alright I'm all in," he said as he pushed out the remainder of his chips. His opponent insta-called and turned over {A-Diamonds}

. Negreanu was in trouble and he knew it. He coyly flipped up the {A-Spades}

. The flop was little help to Negreanu coming {7-Spades}

. The turn left a small ray of hope for the Canadian coming the {5-Hearts}

. Negreanu called for a deuce or a six, and his prayers were answered when the {6-Clubs}

hit the river. Everyone chuckled a bit while the small blind pushed 9,300 total chips over to the Pokerstars pro. He is now working with a still below average 20,000.

With the scheduled start of Day 2 just under 20 minutes away, the atmosphere is as electric as it's been yet. A total of 207 players return to the Casino San Remo on their quest for EPT glory and a chance at 869,000 Euros. It should be an action packed day as 43 players start the day with 20 big blinds or less. It's safe to say those players will be looking to double up early.
