Jan Heitmann Takes Big Pot From William Thorson

William Thorson
William Thorson
We caught up to this hand on the flop. It was heads up between Jan Heitmann and William Thorson. There was about 9,000 in the pot indicating a likely raise by Heitmann from the cutoff seat and a call from Thorson in the big blind. The board read {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Thorson checked from the big blind and Heitmann bet 5,000. Thorson made the call. The turn brought the {5-Diamonds} and again Thorson check/called, this time a bet of 12,000. When the {K-Diamonds} hit the river, Thorson rapped the felt again. Heitmann calmly placed three blue chips on a stack of the same, and slid them out; it was 23,000 for Thorson to call. Thorson counted out the call, then his remaining chips. In the span of about four minutes, Thorson shuffled the calling chips and double checked his hole cards repeatedly. He eventually folded and Heitmann took down the pot. Heitmann is now the clear chip leader with over 230,000 while Thorson is still very much in the mix with about 100,000.
