Day 4 Kicking Off in 20 Minutes

Good afternoon and welcome back to the Casino Barcelona, where 23 players remain rather than the expected 24 after Samer Rahman and Pontus Kers managed to bust out at almost exactly the same time last night.

Young Greek Georgios Kapalas leads, closely tailed by youthful Canadian Matt Lapossie, well-dressed Englishman Marc Goodwin and French veteran Patrick Bueno. After that... Well, actually, those are the only four of our runners who really have above-average stacks -- it's pretty top-heavy at the moment, but we'll see what happens as the day progresses.

Play is due to start at 12.30 local time, join us back here then.

No Signs of Life Yet

Actually, that's not true, there's a lot of milling about and various media presence, etc -- but as yet, there is no hint of play starting. We'll keep you posted.

Nuijten Gets His Chips In First

Julien Nuijten raises to 30,000 from the button and Toni Ojala reraises to 90,000 from the small blind. Without hesitation the last Dutch player in the tournament moved all-in putting the decision back on Ojala.

Both had about equal stacks but Ojala let it go, leaving himself with about 200,000 left to Nuijten's 405,000.

Lapossie Active Early

Matt Lapossie has been one of the more active players throughout the entire tournament. He hasn't let down today and has been involved in the first three hands at his table.

On the first hand, Lapossie opened with a raise to 26,000. Santiago Terrazas Ambite called on the button and David Robinson called in the big blind. The three players took a flop of {9-Clubs} {3-Spades} {2-Diamonds}. Robinson checked and Lapossie stayed on the gas with a bet of 42,000. Ambite flatted before Robinson ducked out of the way.

The turn brought the {8-Clubs} and Lapossie bet 73,000. Ambite raised to 183,000 which prompted Lapossie to question, "You really flop a set on the first hand?" After another moment, he would fold and give Ambite the pot.

On the next hand, Lapossie opened again to 26,000, from under the gun this time. Marc Goodwin called from middle position, Joram Voelklein called on the button and David Robinson called from the small blind. The flop came down {10-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} and everyone checked.

The turn brought the {K-Clubs} and Action checked to Voelklein. He fired 51,000. Robinson folded and Lapossie called. Goodwin came along as well.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and action checked to Voelklein again. He fired a hefty bet of 130,000. Lapossie called and then Goodwin called. Lapossie tabled {3-Clubs} {3-Hearts}, Goodwin showed {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} and Voelklein mucked. Goodwin would scoop the pot.

On the next hand, Jose Alberto Carreres raised to 32,000 from the small blind in an attempt to attack Matt Lapossie's big blind. Lapossie reraised enough to put Carreres all in and Carreres folded.

Adam Markovits Busto in 23rd Place (€26,000)

Adam Markovits 23rd Place
Adam Markovits 23rd Place
Mike "Timex" McDonald raised to 29,000 and Adam Markovits called; they saw a {7-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {3-Hearts} flop.

Timex bet out 45,000, and Markovits attempted to less-than-minimum raise. He was put right and was directed to put 90,000 in the middle. TImex, however, now announced all in, and after a few minutes of unhappy consideration, Markovits folded.

A few hands later, and Markovits got involved again, this time seeing a {9-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {A-Clubs} flop with chip leader Georgios Kapalas. Markovits checked and Kapalas bet, and now a possibly steaming Markovits check-raised all in. Call. On their backs.

Markovits: {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} for top pair
Kapalas: {8-Clubs} {9-Clubs} for second pair and a flush draw

Turn: {4-Spades}

River: {7-Clubs}

Thus we lose our first casualty of the day.
