Flying Brosolo

Big stacks get bigger as Yann Brosolo raised and then called a reraise from the young qualifier to his immediate left.

They saw a {3-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {J-Hearts} flop and Brosolo checked. Young Qualifier bet, Brosolo raised enough to cover him, and Young Qualifier insta-called - before making a "pff" sound and heading home to curse Brosolo's fine luck.

Young Qualifier: {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}
Brosolo: {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds}

Turn: {9-Spades}
River: {4-Hearts}

Brosolo's pyramidal stack is getting rather awkwardly large to count accurately, but it looks to be somewhere in the region of 420,000.

Nittolo Not Buying It

Dario Nittolo opened to 5,400 from late position, and Rui Cao came along with him for a heads-up flop. It came down {2-Spades} {K-Clubs} {8-Spades}, and both men would check there, as well as on the {5-Clubs} turn. On the river, the {7-Hearts} drew one more check from Nittolo. With less tan 15,000 in the pot, Cao stuck in a big overbet of 40,000.

The move took Nittolo aback as he removed his overly large sunglasses and sunk into his chair. The call would represent more than one third of his stack, and after about a minute of debate, he committed the chips. Cao immediately mucked, and Nittolo showed {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} to take that nice pot.

Cao is back down to just about 200,000 after that slip-up.

Clemencon Losing Steam

Tristan Clemencon
Tristan Clemencon
We caught up with the action on the river as the board showed {8-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {10-Spades}. There was about 35,000 in the heads-up pot, and Tristan Clemencon checked first to act. His opponent at the far end of the table took due care stacking out a bet, sliding 15,800 into the middle. Clemencon didn't seem to like it, but he eventually made the call.

The bettor tabled {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades}, and it was plenty good enough to win him the pot. Clemencon has had quite the roller-coaster day, and he now finds himself back down to about 55,000.

Gros Error of Judgment

ElkY's taken a bit of a hit and is currently perched on a rather less chip-leading, average-y 125,000.

There was some considerable action preflop, and ElkY and his opponent went heads up to the {K-Spades} {6-Spades} {9-?} flop. Mr. Opponent bet 20,000 and ElkY made it a hefty 52,200 - but Mr. Opponent went all in and ElkY passed.

To add insult to injury, someone seems to have spilled a drink by the table, making it look as though either ElkY or table neighbour Arnaud Mattern has wet himself. Let's hope that gets cleared up soon.

Roux Gets Saucy with Aces

Last time we saw Anthony Roux he was among the chip leaders on almost 300,000, but he must have suffered some kind of nasty setback as he had far less than that when we witnessed him check-call 12,000 on a {5-Spades} {6-Clubs} {7-Clubs} flop.

Both he and his opponent checked the {5-Clubs} turn, and Roux then bet out 20,000 on the {5-Clubs} river. His opponent called - but mucked when Roux turned over some rather unexpected {A-Spades} {A-Hearts} for a full house to put him back up to 230,000.

No Go For Greenwood

From under the gun, Arnaud Mattern opened the pot by flicking out a rainbow raise to 6,600 -- one of each color chip. A couple seats over, Kristoffer Edberg made the call, and action came to Luc Greenwood in position. He made a reraise to 16,500, enough to quickly fold Mattern. Edberg wasn't so easily pacified, though. He took his time studying Greenwood before adding a full stack of yellow T5,000 chips to the pot, a total re-reraise to 106,600. Greenwood frowned quickly and mucked even faster; he's sitting around 160,000 now.

Double Dutch

On the button, Dutch online stud Bijan Zahmat opened with a raise, and the big blind moved all in with a covering stack. Zahmat had 36,700 chips left, and they all went in as he turned over {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. He was ahead, but he must not have liked to see his opponent show up {J-Spades} {9-Clubs}, drawing live for the knockout.

But the dealer would save Zahmat as she ran out a board of {5-Spades} {8-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}. No pairs for either man, and Zahmat's ace-high earns him a double up to about 75,000.
