Running Secared

George Secara suffered some early setbacks, and he was reduced to less than 200,000 when we caught up with him open-shoving from the hijack. e got no callers, though, and stays in on a short stack for the moment.

Roux Cooks Up a Huge Pot

Anthony Roux
Anthony Roux
Bastian Trachte raised preflop and Anthony Roux called in the big blind. They went heads up to a flop.

Flop: {K-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}

Roux checked, and Trachte announced a bet of 44,000. He spent perhaps a minute carefully counting out and stacking the bet before very slowly and deliberately pushing the chips across the line. Roux called.

Turn: {4-Hearts}

Again, Roux checked. This time Trachte announced a bet of 131,000. Because the bet was larger this time, it took even longer to count it out and stack it up, before eventually pushing it into the middle. Once more, Roux called.

River: {8-Hearts}

Roux checked one last time. Over to Trachte, who now disappeared into the tank for a few minutes. This was turning into an epic hand. Eventually, he announced a huge bet of 314,000. Three minutes later, that bet made its way into the middle.

Now it was Roux's turn to dwell up. He looked very forlorn, as the media crowded in around the table. After approximately an age, he called - and Trachte had mucked even before Roux had turned over his pocket {5-Spades} {5-Diamonds}. Wow.

Roux moves on up to a seriously in-contention 1.6 million.

Sneaky, Sneaky

From early position, Jerome Zerbib made the first raise to 45,000. A three-bet to 94,000 came from Gustav Ekerot in the blinds, and Zerbib made the call with little delay.

The flop rolled out {4-Spades} {7-Clubs} {J-Hearts}, and Ekerot slowly checked. Very slowly. Even more slowly, Zerbib counted out a bet of 64,000 and inched it into the pot. Several agonizing minutes would pass with Ekerot deep in the tank, but he eventually opted to make a check-raise to 180,000 total. After a few more minutes of sideways glances, Zerbib kicked it in, and Ekerot picks up the pot right there.

Boris Yaplonskiy Elimianted in 24th Place (€15,500)

Boris Yaplonskiy - 24th Place
Boris Yaplonskiy - 24th Place
First into the pot from early position, Boris Yaplonskiy opened with an all-in shove for his last 95,000 chips. Over on the button, Sven Eichelbaum made a move of his own, shoving his 266,000 into the middle as well. Next door, Jan Skampa squeezed his cards out slowly before making the call to put both men at risk! With the betting action closed, the cards were turned over:

Yaplonskiy: {A-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}
Eichelbaum: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades}
Skampa: {9-Clubs} {9-Spades}

Skampa was looking to pull a nine for the double knockout, while Yaplonskiy would likely need an ace to stay afloat. The dealer didn't provide much drama as she ran out a blank board of {3-Spades} {J-Clubs} {7-Spades} {K-Spades} {10-Spades}. Eichelbaum improves to the spade flush, his queens holding to earn him a double-up and then some. He's up to about 650,000 courtesy of those two ladies.

For Yaplonskiy, though, it's the end of the road. Coming in as the short stack, he couldn't find that early double up, and he's been ousted in 24th place.

Priyan de Mel
Priyan de Mel
Antony Lellouche made it 46,000 to play from late position, but that was only the beginning. Kalle Niemi announced a raise to 110,000 next door, and there was still more action to come. One seat over from there, Priyan de Mel peeked at his cards and made an all-in reraise for just about 500,000 total. Lellouche folded with a frown, and Niemi called with his hands trembling, putting de Mel at risk of elimination with his covering stack.

Showdown
Niemi: {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}
De Mel: {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}

De Mel was none too pleased with his opponent's play. "Ace-queen call? Just drop me out." Niemi sat still and hunkered down for the rest of the verbal barrage. "Ace-queen," continued de Mel, standing up and shaking his head. "You lose to a pair, you lose to ace-king..."

He continued to chatter as the dealer ran out an uninteresting board of {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {6-Spades} {3-Spades}. Chop it up.

De Mel sat back down to continue the one-sided discourse. "Ace-queen call," he repeated yet again. "For three quarters of your stack. Come on. We're playing an EPT here, you know?"

Zerbib Gets Short, Doubles Up, Remains Short

Jerome Zerbib suddenly appeared to be extremely short-stacked when we strolled by his table; at the same time Juha Lauttamus's stack seemed to have grown. The police are treating this as suspicious.

Nevertheless, so it came to pass that Stefan Matsson raised in the cutoff and then called the push for less than 100,000 from Zerbib on the button.

Zerbib: {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}
Matsson: {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}

Board: {10-Spades} {5-Spades} {K-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {9-Spades}

Zerbib doubles up, but is still short on 200,000.
