Jan Skampa made it 54,000 to play from middle position, and Gustav Ekerot called to see a heads-up flop of . Skampa continued out with a bet of 66,000. Ekerot quickly called, and the turn came the . Both players checked in turn this time, and the dealer dropped the on the river. Skampa paused for a moment before sliding out 150,000 more chips. Ekerot didn't seem to sure of himself, but he eventually made the call.
Skampa tabled , and that was the winner. Ekerot returned his cards to the muck and sent about a third of his stack across the felt.
Jan Skampa
Evgeniy Zaytsev opened to 54,000 in the cutoff seat, and Jan Skampa called on the button. Small blind Gustav Ekerot came along as well, and the three men watched the flop roll out . Ekerot checked and folded when Zaytsev fired 92,000, but Skampa made a quick call.
Heads up now, the turn brought the . Zaytsev seemed resigned to the forthcoming actions. He checked, Skampa bet 180,000, and he instantly folded.
That latest pot from Skampa has pushed him into the chip lead with more than 2.1 million.
A lot for Lauttamus
We missed the action, but from the positions, the hands and the stack sizes, we're guessing that either Anthony Roux raised from the small blind and then called the push from Juha Lauttamus, or Roux just put him in. Either way:
Roux:
Lauttamus:
Board:
Lauttamus doubles back up to 900,000 or so; Roux is down to 1,530,000.
We caught up with the action on the turn of the board, with Luca Pagano betting out 240,000. After some very uncomfortable-looking squirming, Eyal Avitan folded face up.
A blind-on-blind encounter had got as far as the turn by the time we caught up with it; the board read . Small blind Yann Brosolo bet out and got a call from big blind Stefan Mattsson - but Brosolo moved in on the turn and Mattsson swiftly passed.
With the action folded around to the blinds, Jolmer Meelis limped in from the small, and Luca Pagano made a raise from the big. He slid out a total of 74,000, but Meelis instantly announced an all in for 345,000 additional. Pagano tanked it up for a few minutes, counting down his stack and shooting glances to his right. Finally, though, he surrendered with a frown.
On the next hand, Pagano raised from the small blind first into the pot. He made it 64,000 only to see Laurence Ryan re-raise to 195,000 in the big. Pagano acted a bit quicker this time, but with the same result; fold.
There is hardly any action in the tournament room right now, but Pagano is certainly finding willing competitors. Whether he wants them or not.
From the button, Juha Lauttamus made it 65,000 to go. In the big blind, Jan Skampa slid out 155,000, and the dealer promptly spread out a flop of . But there had still been action pending.
The floor was called over to make a ruling, and it was a correct one. The dealer wasn't certain what had happened, and the players at the table couldn't seem to agree either. The pot was reconstructed, and there were indeed 90,000 raising chips in front of Skampa. The staff member told the players that the flop would be re-shuffled into the deck and re-dealt after the pending action.
"Oh man, but I liked that flop!" lamented Lauttamus. He flipped over the and sent both of his cards into the muck, and the pot goes to Skampa.
Not so Jol-ly
Priyan de Mel had just won a cheeky pot off of Eyal Avitan, and the very next hand he raised to 65,000 under the gun. Two places to his left, Jolmer Meelis moved all in. Everyone else folded and headed off on break - and it was back around to de Mel, who called.
