Javier Garcia Eliminated in 17th Place (€10,151)

From early position, Jude Ainsworth opened the pot to 25,000. Next door, Javier Garcia put in the call, and Michel Abecassis came along from the big blind.

Three-handed, the dealer ran out a flop of {6-Spades} {2-Clubs} {9-Clubs}. When the first two men checked, Garcia moved all 202,000 of his chips across the betting line. Michel Abecassis asked for a count before making the quick call, and Ainsworth ducked out of the way. With Garcia now at risk, the cards were on their backs:

Garcia: {J-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}
Abecassis: {J-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}

Abecassis was in the lead with top pair, but Garcia had the overcard and the flush draw to work with. The turn {J-Hearts} was no help at all, though, and the {7-Spades} that filled out the board was the right color, wrong suit. Unable to improve, Javier Garcia becomes our 17th-place finisher.

Was it Ainsworth it?

Jude Ainsworth is down to 325,000 after getting involved with chip daddy Antonio Matias.

Ainsworth checked the {J-Spades} {3-Hearts} {J-Clubs} flop, before min-raising to a 60,000 bet from Matias. Matias called.

Both players checked the {10-Hearts} turn, and Ainsworth bet out 100,000 on the {10-Spades} river. Matias however raised to 300,000, and with an almighty sigh Ainsworth passed.

Quote of the Day

Jeff Sarwer, eavesdropping on a conversation between Sorel Mizzi and someone else where contact details were exchanged:

"Sorel, I heard your email. I'm going to spam you. Is it ever ok to four-bet with..."

Felix Flips a Coin

From the button, Hugo Felix shoved his 148,000 remaining chips into the middle of the table. Gino Gabriel has been dying to play a hand today, and he finally found one to call with, matching the bet from the big blind to put Felix at risk.

Showdown
Felix: {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades}
Gabriel: {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}

Let's flip a coin, shall we? The flop came out {3-Clubs} {J-Spades} {K-Diamonds}. "No help," said Thomas Kremser on the microphone, although Felix had picked up four more outs to the straight. The {J-Clubs} on the turn was a great miss too, as Felix picked up an additional three outs to make a better two pair. With a myriad of outs to work with, Felix would find one: the {10-Diamonds} on the river filled in his gutshot and double him up over 300,000.

"Vamos!" came the shouts from the rail.

Barbosa All In Against Visser

Joao Barbosa opened the pot to 20,000, and Ruben Visser three-bet to 46,000 a couple seats over. Next to him, Andrei Vlasenko moved all in for 182,000. That was enough to quickly fold Barbosa, but Visser made the call to put his opponent at risk.

Showdown
Barbosa: {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}
Visser: {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}

Barbosa was poised for a much-needed double up, and that's just what he would get. The dealer ran out the board: {K-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {8-Spades} {9-Spades}. The jacks hold for Barbosa, and he's now up to about 390,000. Visser has taken a step back, but he's still got about 495,000 to work with.
