The Life and Times of Ruben Visser

Ruben Visser was all in for 140,000 before the flop with {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}, and he was in good shape to survive against Tome Moreira and his {A-Spades} {7-Clubs}. He would pair his eight on the turn as the board rolled out {3-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {5-Spades} {8-Hearts} {4-Hearts}. Eights are good, and Visser doubles up to just about 300,000.

A few hands later, Visser open-shoved for 278,000 from late position. In the blinds, Ryan Franklin had just 132,000 left, and they all went into the pot. Visser held {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}, and Franklin was all in but ahead with {6-Hearts} {6-Spades}.

The flop brought a backdoor flush draw for Visser, coming {10-Clubs} {3-Spades} {9-Clubs}. The {6-Diamonds} that hit the turn was not one of those backdoor cards, though. It left Visser drawing dead, and he mucked his cards before the river fell the {J-Hearts}. That moved Franklin back into contention with close to 280,000.

For Visser, it's down and up and back down again. He's back to 156,000 as the break approaches.

Ainsworth Doubles Up, Felix Eliminated in 16th Place (€11,713) in Unrelated Incidents

Hugo Felix open-shoved from the button, and Ryan Franklin in the small blind asked how much it was.

There was then a pause in the action, because over on the other table, Jude Ainsworth was all in against Aurelien Guiglini.

Ainsworth: {A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}
Guiglini: {10-Diamonds} {10-Spades}

Board: {2-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {8-Hearts}

While Claudio Coelho appeared to be waving goodbye to the now extremely short Guiglini, Ainsworth doubled up to 400,000 or so.

---

So back to our other all in, and Franklin called.

Franklin: {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}
Felix: {J-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}

Board: {2-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}

Thus Felix was not so lucky, and exits in 16th place.

Aurelien Guiglini Eliminated in 15th Place (€11,713)

When Aurelien Guiglini looked down at {8-Clubs} {8-Spades} a few hands after doubling Ainsworth, he open-shoved for his last 30,000 from late position. In the blinds, Claudio Coelho made the call with {10-Hearts} {J-Hearts} and the covering stack.

Trouble found Guiglini right away as the dealer ran a flop of {10-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}. The {K-Spades} on the turn left Guiglini drawing dead to his two-outer, and the {2-Spades} on the river was indeed not an eight.

Failing to win his final race of the day, Aurelien Guiglini becomes our 16th place

Ruben Visser Eliminated in 14th Place (€13,274)

Just after being eliminated, Aurelien Guiglini stopped by the adjacent table to shake hands with Ruben Visser. Visser asked the details of his elimination hand before saying, "I'm going to be out soon, too. Or else big stack." Cue the dramatic foreshadowing.

On the very first hand, Visser moved all in for about 160,000 from middle position holding {Q-Hearts} {10-Clubs}. Action folded all the way around to the big blind where Jeff Sarwer squeezed out {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades} and made the quick call.

The board missed Visser completely, running {5-Spades} {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}. The Dutch pro managed to get his short stack in with live cards, but he was unable to improve to survive; Visser's day is done in 14th place.

Jude Ainsworth Eliminated in 13th Place (€13,274)

Jude Ainsworth had been having some trouble, raising in late position with {K-?} {J-?} and then having to lay it down to reraises all in from Jan Skampa and the like, so he must have been delighted when he looked down and found {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. He raised under the gun to 38,000, and Antonio Matias and Michel Abecassis in the blinds both made the call.

The flop came down {K-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {9-Spades} and Matias bet out 60,000. Abecassis flat-called, and the action moved over to Ainsworth, who announced all in for 278,000. Back to Matias - and he called. Now to Abecassis - and he re-shoved for 428,000 total. And Matias called that too.

Ainsworth: the aforementioned {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} for top set
Matias: {K-Spades} {J-Diamonds} for top pair
Abecassis: {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts} for the straight

Turn: {Q-Clubs}, giving the apparently golden Matias the straight as well

River: {3-Clubs}

Abecassis and Matias thus chop it up, and the last Team Pokerstars Pro standing heads for the rail in 13th place.
