Preflop Battle for Chips

In the later stages of tournaments, picking up the blinds and antes to add them to your stack is a crucial part of tournament poker. In the last 20 minutes or so, there has been a series of raises preflop, but other players at the table are fighting back with three-bets. Some of those three-bets are even being four-bet and the constant fight for chips in preflop action heats up.

Here's a look at some recent hands where this has happened.

Evgeniy Zaytsev raised to 88,000 from the cutoff seat and then Artur Wasek reraised from the button to 200,000 to win the pot.

Kevin MacPhee raised from under the gun to 88,000 before Stefan Huber reraised to 206,000 from the cutoff seat. Marko Neumann was in the small blind and four-bet shoved. MacPhee and Huber both folded.

Marcel Koller raised to 85,000 from middle position and folded after Carsten Joh three-bet to 200,000 from the button.

Stefan Huber raised to 80,000 from the hijack and then Norman Kastner three-bet from the cutoff to 255,000 and won the pot.

Carsten Joh raised from middle position to 95,000 and then Paul Thomas Otto reraised all in from the small blind. Everyone folded and Otto was pushed the pot.
