Break it Up

Well, apparently they were just waiting for us to walk away. Table Pagano has successfully folded its way to being broken, and the players are now scattered amidst the tables over here in the main tournament room. Jeff Sarwer is sitting right in front of us; in fact, he's sitting where Antony Lellouche used to be sitting. That means they've either changed the event to a Tag Team format, or Lellouche has been sent packing.

The Habers and Hab-Nots

With the flop reading {5-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}, one Eric Haber ("But ze French one," he told me, to avoid confusion with American Eric "Sheets" Haber, whom he is not) moved all in. There ensued some dwelling, before Patrick Bruel made the call - and then instantly regretted it as Haber turned over {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. Bruel could only boast {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds}, and following a couple of raggy blanks on the turn and river ({8-Spades} and {3-Spades} respectively), Haber shouted, "ALLEZ!" and doubled to around 80,000. Bruel is left with a still above-average 48,000.

A Numbers Game

We're still waiting for the official tallies from the tournament staff, but it looks like 427 players have shown up for Day 1b. If that stands, that'll put the total field size at a very impressive 766 runners.

Full of Dinner

Back at the felt for three more levels now.

Without the distraction of the French Poker Awards tonight, we should be done a little earlier than yesterday.

French-on French Action; France Wins

With around 16,000 in the pot by the turn of the {3-Spades} {5-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {Q-Spades} board, Aurelien Guiglini checked out of the big blind position, before calling 6,000 from Jeremy Amsellem.

They both went on to check the {6-Clubs} river and Guiglini turned over {4-Spades} {6-Spades} for a bunch of draws that had turned into a pair of sixes, and started cursing. Amsellem's {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} for top pair was good to take the pot, and he remained perfectly sanguine behind his bandit-style face scarf as he raked in the chips.

Guiglini - 30,000
Amsellem - 55,000

Do or Die for Adeniya

Martins Adeniya, who's had rather a difficult day, checked a {K-Spades} {10-Spades} {8-Spades} flop in the big blind position, and the action moved over to David Cohen in the hijack who bet. Adeniya very quickly and very purposefully moved his whole, not very large, stack across the line. After a few moments Cohen folded, and Adeniya stays in the game on a slightly shaky 16,000 or so.
