Team PokerStars pro, Nacho Barbero has just dropped around 5,000 chips, or a fifth of his stack, after giving up his hand on the river of a very draw heavy board.
The Argentinian raised 750 when the action folded to him in late position, he then called a re-raise to 2,000 from the player in the small blind, creating a decent sized pot from the off.
A flop of saw the small blind lead out with a bet of 3,000, a bet that barbero simply called. The arrival of the in the turn saw both players check but the small blind quickly fired a bet of 6,000 when the appeared on the river.
Barbero sat muttering to himself for around a minute before rleasing his hand into the muck, leaving him with 19,300 chips.
Denys Drobyna has found himself a full double up to 40,000+ after fortune favoured him with a life-saving river. Here's how it happened:
Drobyna raised preflop, and an Italian gent in the small blind three-bet him (I suggest his nationality as there was at one point confusion about the bet size and Roberto Nulli in seat 2 appeared to be translating).
Drobyna called (the extra 2,200 on top of his initial 1,100) and they saw a flop of . Out bet Italian Gent - 5,300. Drobyna called (his remaining chips less than 15k).
The turn: Italian Gent bet out 7,200 and quickly faced an all-in from Drobyna, for 7,525 more. He called quickly with a shrug.
Drobyna:
Italian Gent:
River: This completed the flush for Drobyna and dropped his opponent to 17,500 while his friend muttered, "So sick..."
A good start for German Team Pokerstars Pro Florian Langmann. He's more than doubled his starting stack, most recently taking down a pot of over 10k on a flop of .
Langmann had three-bet (2,025) on the button, but found the original raiser coming back over the top (5,775 total). He threw in the call, and on the aforementioned flop waited while his opponent sat perfectly still for a short while. Incidentally, although this opponent in seat 10 is a recent move to the table or a late registration and so is as yet unnamed on our plan, he's the only one in the room whose quiff had a chance of battling against Langmann's own.
In the end he bet out 1,100, and after little delay Langmann raised to 6,100. His opponent folded and gave him his new total stack of 62,000.
I must be Dario Minieri's good luck charm as I haven't seen him all day and when I do finally locate the diminutive Italian, he doubles up!
Minieri raised to 500 from early position and only the button called. The flop came down and was met with a bet of 1,000 from Minieri, a raise to 2,600 from his opponent and shove for 9,400 from Minieri. His shove was snap-called by the button, who happily revealed for a set of fives, way in front of the of Minieri.
However, poker can be a cruel game and unless you have the hand locked down 100% then anything can and does happen. The dealer burned a card and dealt the turn.... BOOM! giving Minieri the lead and when the river came the , the tiny Team PokerStars pro had doubled up to 21,300!
We're not sure of the details, but the potential for things "kicking off" as it were here in Prague have just been reduced, as Luke "_FullFlush1_" Schwartz is busto.
The title sounds like the build up to a joke but alas it is not. It is actually introducing you to three hands that have just taken place here at the Hilton.
Hand 1: Former November Niner, Antoine Saout opened on the button with a raise to 650 and only the small blind came along for the ride. A flop of was met with a bet of 850 from the small blind, but he soon gave up his hand when Saout made it 2,600 to play.
Hand 2: The Italian-sounding German, Giuseppe Pantaleo min-raised from early position to 400, a bet that folded everyone out except the small blind, who bet two red chips and a single black one, a raise to 2,100. Once the big blind got out of the way the action was back on Pantaleo and the EPT Barcelona final table member put in a further raise, this time to a more substantial 5,000, enough to fold out his singular opponent.
Hand 3: EPT Barcelona runner-up Jesus Cortes Lizano got things under way with a raise in early position to 525 but probably did not bank on the hijack, cutoff and big blind calling! The flop saw the big blind check, Lizano follw suit but the hijack bet 1,450, which prompted a snigger from the rest of the table, suggesting he's been stealing plenty lately. We'll keep our eye on him.
Young UK player John Eames had dropped below his starting stack, but has won a good few back, including this odd pot against Hicham Aouraghe. It started small, with around 1,000 in the middle as the turn fell making the board . Check to Aouraghe, who bet 750. In the deliberate fashion which characterises his calmly-paced style of play, Eames made the call.
The river was the . Now Eames bet out - 2,100. Back to Aouraghe, who considered this development for a minute or so before tossing in the call.
Eames showed for the rivered straight, and won the pot while Aouraghe shook his head with one of those wry smiles perfected by the outdrawn poker player.
Maxim Lykov, armed with a substantial pile of chips after his pocket sevens cracked Stephen Devlin's aces to bust the latter, has taking his chip total to 64,300 thanks to some chips from Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier.
Elky raised preflop from early position and only Lukov called, seated in the small blind. A flop of was met with a check from Lykov, a bet of 625 from Elky and a call.
A second nine appeared on the turn, the , which neither player liked as both tapped the table and checked. The arrival of the on the river looked as though it may force the players to checked again, but Lykov quckly lead out for 1,300 and just as quick Elky folded.
