Naydenov Busto in Surprise Set Shocker

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Dirk Richter
Dirk Richter

Funny game, sometimes. Simeon Naydenov exited laughing just now, but in a slightly hysterical-sounding way after an unexpected hand took the rest of his 35k stack. Naydenov raised preflop to 3,600 and picked up four callers (Dirk Richter first, then the button and both blinds).

The flop: {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Check to the raiser, who checked, as did Richter and Florian Langmann on the button.

A free turn: {10-Diamonds}. Now Naydenov bet 13,800 when it checked to him again, called instantly by Richter and no one else.

The river: {3-Hearts}. Naydenov shipped in his final 20,000 and Richter simply said, "Call," without bothering to move any chips. They were all coming his way anyhow, as while Naydenov showed {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}, Richter had flopped a bigger set with {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}!

Naydenov actually slapped his own forehead with an audible, "Thwack!" before taking his leave with rueful giggles.
