Barbero Tries, Fails

We walked up to Nacho Barbero's table to see him involved in a pot.

On a flop of {3-Clubs} {2-Spades} {K-Clubs}, Ilkim Amirov led out with a bet. He had two yellow chips out in front of his betting line, but he had verbally announced a lesser amount that we couldn't quite hear. Barbero heard it though, and he spent at least two long minutes in the tank. Eventually, he flicked out a raise to 18,000 straight. Amirov shrugged and moved all in for about 48,000 total, and Barbero snap-mucked, shaking his head.

Nacho is getting short now, left with about 34,000 chips.

It's a Kohler!

Urs Kohler has eliminated Hannes Groning in another of those oh-so-familiar coinflips when Kohler's {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} turned over Groning's {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} on a {2-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} board.

Ceylan Floored

There was around 30,000 in the pot by the time we arrived on the turn of the {2-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {7-Hearts} board and Otto Sandstrom had either bet or checked; either way there was a bet/raise of 22,000 in front of Sabo Ceylan and Sandstrom's entire stack lay across the line in front of him, enough to cover Ceylan.

Ceylan tanked for a long time but eventually opted to fold. From a pretty decent stack before the hand, he has dropped to a below-average 50,000.

Hedlund Has Found Jesus

In early position, Peter Hedlund came in raising to 3,500. A few seats over, Felix Lambertz made the call before Francesco Trimboli moved all in for 35,900 in the small blind. Hedlund didn't waste too much time folding, but Lambertz was looking like a call.

"How much is it?" he double-checked. "I call."

"I thought you had something good," Hedlund interjected. "I saw you looking at my cards. You have jacks? Queens?" Hedlund's not very often wrong in these spots, but he was here. Lambertz turned up {A-Spades} {J-Hearts}, drawing a shocked, "Jesus!" from Hedlund.

Trimboli then tabled his lowlier {J-Spades} {9-Diamonds}, and Hedlund was beside himself. "Jesus. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!"

The board would run out favorably for the at-risk Trimboli though: {8-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {8-Spades}. His pair of nines is good enough to double him up over 90,000 and drop Lambertz down to a paltry 10,000 chips. Hedlund was still shaking his head as we walked away from the table.

ElkY Gives Up His Hand, Remains Chip Leader

EPT Snowfest winner Allan Bække opened for 3,500 and serial winner of many things Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier called in the hijack. However, Marcello Scaglione (we love these Italian names, so many of them sound like an alcoholic dessert) made it 15,100 to go and everyone passed, ElkY flashing {9-Hearts} {10-Hearts}.

Nevertheless, ElkY still looks to be our current chip leader - he's on just about 350,000 after that. Bække, by the by, is on a more modest 55,000.

Slice of Pie, Anyone?

You know we love a good pie chart here at the EPT, so here's a bight shiny one for your viewing enjoyment! This chart represents the breakdown of the field by nationality. Nice work, Italy!
