No Brucey Bonus

Bruce Atkinson is done, he raised to 40,000 preflop and Kyle Bowker pushed all-in from the blinds, a quick call and some very standard flipping was about to take place.

Bowker: {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}
Atkinson: {J-Hearts} {J-Spades}

Board: {9-Spades} {A-Hearts} {2-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {K-Spades}

Three pair beats two and Atkinson was out but still had time to serenade the room on the microphone with what sounded like a verse from an Elvis Presley song...

Bowker has about 600,000 now.

Vinson Voided

Thomas Bichon raised to 36,000 to open the pot, and Ben Vinson three-bet shoved for about 360,000 from the small blind. In the big, John O'Shea would take several minutes to agonize over his decision. "Close..." he could be heard saying at one point, trailing off and talking to himself more than anyone else. Finally, he said, "Call," and pushed his ~415,000 chips forward. Bichon asked if it was a call or a shove, and O'Shea realized his mistake and pulled back the extra chips to leave himself with about 50,000 in front of him. It didn't matter, though; Bichon rainbow-folded, and Vinson was at risk as the cards were turned up.

"You got a pair?" Vinson asked.

"No... you got ace-king?" O'Shea answered with another question.

"No," was Vinson's answer, and he finally showed up his {8-Spades} {4-Clubs}. Meager though that was, he was drawing live against O'Shea's {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}.

But not for long.

The flop brought an ace, and the board of {3-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {10-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} was all she wrote for Vinson. His day is done in 30th place, and he'll have the rest of the night off.

Palmer Goes (Broke) With an Ace

From the small blind, Scott Palmer made it 36,000 to go, and big blind David Vamplew promptly reraised to 98,000. Palmer took his pause before moving all in for about 300,000, and Vamplew quickly called to put his man at risk. Cards up, gents:

Palmer: {A-Spades} {7-Diamonds}
Vamplew: {10-Clubs} {10-Spades}

Palmer was left drawing dead to an ace (or running jacks) on the {J-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {J-Hearts} flop, and the turn {5-Hearts} gave him just one card to find his three-outer. The river {Q-Diamonds} didn't do it, though, and we've dropped another player off the list. That leaves 30 left in this Main Event!

No Ruminating From Rumit

Chino Rheem, dropping to 1.4 million
Chino Rheem, dropping to 1.4 million

Chino Rheem opened to 40,000 preflop before Rumit Somaiya pushed all-in for a total of 497,000.

Rheem, "Do you want a call?"

"I don't mind either way," Rumit replied.

Finally Rheem made the call and Rumit showed a dominating {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} to Rheem's {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}. The board came {9-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {5-Spades} {K-Clubs} and Somaiya moved up to over a million in chips while Rheem dropped to 1.4 million

Kagawa Cripples, Eliminates Huntley

Gordon Huntley raised to 40,000 to open the pot from middle position, and Masa Kagawa moved all in for 269,000 from the small blind. When it came back to Huntley, he spent some time considering the decision that was for most of his own stack as well. Finally, he glanced around the room and plunked a calling stack into the pot.

Showdown
Huntley: {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}
Kagawa: {9-Spades} {9-Hearts}

The {10-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {3-Spades} flop added four more outs for Huntley, as the kings were now live for his Broadway straight. The turn {7-Diamonds} was no help, though, and neither was the {4-Clubs} river, and Kagawa pounded the table with an open palm in celebration. When the stacks were counted down, Huntley was left with just about 70,000.

A few hands later, Kagawa opened to 40,000 and John O'Shea called in the small blind. In the big, Huntley called for more than half of his remaining chips to go three ways to the flop.

It came {4-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}, and O'Shea led out with a bet of 50,000. Huntley called all in for 33,000 total, and Kagawa matched the bet as well to create side action between he and O'Shea. Both live players check-checked the {K-Hearts} turn, and the {4-Clubs} river drew a bet of 100,000 from Kagawa. O'Shea folded, and it was time to see if Huntley could survive.

He turned up {9-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} for fours and threes, and that just wasn't going to get it done. Kagawa tabled {J-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}, and his jacks up earn the pot and the bounty of Gordon Huntley.

Rivet is Not a Happy Casher

The action folded around to the blinds at the six-handed table farthest from us, and Matt Perrins opened to 40,000 from the small. In the big, Guillaume Rivet three-bet to 93,000, and Perrins asked him how much he was playing. Rivet had about 700,000 behind, and Perrins eventually announced an all-in four-bet. Rivet's call couldn't have come any quicker, and the cards were on their backs:

Perrins: {8-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}
Rivet: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}

"Shit," Rivet said under his breath, leaning back in his chair to sweat his fate, and a bit worried about the two live cards he was looking at. His uneasiness was fulfilled right on the flop as the dealer spread out {8-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} to pull Perrins into a big lead with two to come. The turn {2-Spades} and river {10-Hearts} failed to find his overcards, though, and he has been relieved of his full stack.

"F***!" he said briskly, gathering his belongings and shooting an evil glance back at the table as he walked off to collect his payout.

After the hand, Perrins was chatting with buddy Nik Persaud about how that hand played out. "I mean, it was kinda bad," he admitted. "But he made it 93,000, and I thought he'd make it more than that if he wanted action. When he makes it 93, he has to think I have too many chips to spaz. If he'd made it like 110,000, I'd have just folded it."

Perrins doesn't have to justify anything to anyone; his stack will do the talking. That big boost vaults him all the way up into third place with about 1.85 million now.

Levy Breaks Tollefsen

Steven Levy raised to 35,000 preflop, and Henrik Tollefsen three-bet for an amount we couldn't see. When it came back to Levy, he moved in, and Tollefsen snap-called for about 300,000 he had left in front of him. It would be his last call of the day.

Showdown
Levy: {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}
Tollefsen: {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}

There was a little bit of a sweat by the time the turn rolled around, but the board of {2-Clubs} {9-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {J-Spades} ultimately held Levy's aces, sending Tollefsen off to the payout desk to pick up a little spending money.
