Cada Into Six Figures

Joe Cada raised preflop to 2,025 before Matej Cepon reraised to 6,500 from the cutoff. Cada thought for a minute or two before making it 14,250 to play. Cepon shoved for about 60,000 and Cada snap-called.

Cada: {K-?} {K-?}
Cepon: {A-?} {Q-?}

Board: {7-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {10-Spades}

Cada, "I wanted it to look I wasn't getting 2-1 on your shove."

The WSOP champion moves up to 137,000.

Monfils Whiffs One

Gael Monfils, a French tennis player who recently joined Team PokerStars SportsStar, opened from middle position, and Omar Baioumi added another 4,700 on top. Monfils called, and the flop came {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. Monfils bet out 4,000, and Baioumi raised to 9,000. Gael called. After the {J-Spades} on the turn, both players checked. It was check-check again after the {5-Hearts} river. Monfils tabled {K-Spades}{10-Clubs}, but his king was no good when Baioumi turned up {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. Monfils is getting short, while Baioumi is up to 130,000.

Bergeron Gone

"Seat open on Table 7!" heard we, and Craig Bergeron headed for the door. Tablemate and crippler Melanie Weisner filled us in on the details.

Weisner opened for 1,350 with {A-Spades} {5-Spades} and Bergeron called in the big blind to see a {Q-?} {3-?} {4-?} flop with two spades on it. Bergeron check-called 2,650 from Weisner, and then bet out 3,500 on the {6-?} turn. Come the {7-Diamonds} river Bergeron bet out a further 7,225 with just 21,000 back, and then called the extra 10,000 that Weisner raised. He turned over {Q-?} {6-?} which was not good enough to beat Weisner's straight, and was down to two pair.

Next hand he shoved with pocket deuces to a raise, and found the raiser holding pocket tens. That was the end of that.

"He's so mad at me," said Weisner of Bergeron, "He's like never going to talk to me again."

Gomes Doubles Up

Akexandre Gomes raised in mid position and then shoved for 27,000 to a reraise from Sebastian Bidinger. Bidinger thought about it for a long time, and eventually made a good call.

Gomes: {2-Clubs} {2-Diamonds}
Bidinger: {6-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}

Now concentrate! Here comes the outdraw bit.

Board: {2-Spades} {K-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {A-Spades}

Gomes doubled to 55,000, while Bidinger looked unhappy but remained a big stack on 120,000.

Colour Up

We have no need of the teeny tiny 25-denomination chips any more, so we're getting rid of them. This translates into a 15 minute break for the players, before we play our last level of the day.

Grundy Going Good

Ben Grundy is having a good day today, he's up to solid 80,000 or so.

"I just flopped quads against Kings but he played it very well, he knew I was strong and managed to fold on the river. I still got 20,000 out of it though."

Veldhuis Doubles Through Horrified Opponent

Veld in the huis!
Veld in the huis!
We caught up with Lex Veldhuis and his one opponent on the turn of the {2-Spades} {2-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {10-Clubs} board. Both players checked, and they proceeded to the river.

The river came down the {A-Spades} and Veldhuis' opponent bet out 11,000. Veldhuis threw his last 15,800 in by way of an all-in raise; his opponent naturally called and then was horrified.

Opponent Gentleman: {A-Clubs} {3-Clubs}
Veldhuis: {A-Hearts} {10-Hearts}

Veldhuis remained expressionless as he doubled to 50,000.
