Day 3 Started

Welcome to Day 3 of EPT Barcelona!

Welcome to Day 3
Welcome to Day 3

Hello and welcome to Day 3 of the 2010 EPT Barcelona, brought to you by PokerStars.com.

The sun is shining and we have 112 very happy people because they are all guaranteed a minimum of €7,500 for just turning up today. All 112 people will be trying to make the best decisions possible - and crossing their fingers hoping for some luck - in order to capture the €825,000 first prize and all the glory that goes along with being an EPT Champion.

In the lead as we go into the day is Bryn Kenney. The PokerStars online qualifier has already had a 29th place finish at the WSOPE Main Event and a 28th place finish at the WSOP Main Event this year alone. The American has 693,500 chips.

The action is going to be exciting though because there are some big stacks that are nipping at the heels of Kenney and they belong to the likes of Roman Makhlin, Giuseppe Pantaloe, Dominik Nitsche, Haykel Vidal and Day 1b leader Luis Rufas.

In addition to the big stacks we have a roster of experienced pros such as Roberto Romanello, Carlos Mortenson, Team Pokerstars Pros Matthias de Meulder, Ruben Visser, Leo Fernandez and Betrand “ElkY” Grospellier all in the hunt for the title

Tune back in at noon for the very best in live tournament coverage.

Over on PokerStars, Club PokerNews are pleased to announce we have several exclusive $15,000 Sunday Million & $2,000 PCA Freerolls that you cannot find anywhere else.

Not Long To Go Now

The majority of the 112 surviving players have taken their seats in the vast cardroom and have begun to unbag and stack their chips. Considering they are all playing for a potential €825,000 they all look relatively calm and collected, maybe it is just their poker faces?

When play does restart, the blinds will be 3,000/6,000 with a running ante of 600, meaning a few of the shorter stacks will need to make a move early on so expect a flurry of eliminations from the start.

The Chip Leader Involved Early

PokerStars Online Qualifier and over night chip leader Bryn Kenny has decided to hit the ground running immediately. He was seated in late position in his first hand and opened with a raise of 14,000. Andrey Danilyuk shoved in the cut off for 54,000 and everyone folded around to Kenny who made the call.

Kenny: {k-Spades} {9-Clubs}

Danilyuk: {q-Hearts} {q-Diamonds}

The King never reared its head on a {a-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {q-Spades} {3-Hearts} board and Danilyuk doubled up.

In the next hand Kenny again opened up with a raise of 14,000 and this time everyone folded and he took the blinds and antes.

Anders Rasmussen an Early Casualty

We warned that the elimaintions would could thick and fast and we were correct. As we entered the poker room, Anders Rasmussen had moved all-in from early position and Govert Metaal made the call, the rest of the tsable slid their cards into the muck.

Rasmussen: {7-}{5-}
Metaal: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}

Board: {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-}{9-}

Pascal Power

Pascal Lefrancois played well all day yesterday and today has started in similar fashion. The Canadian opened up from the button with a raise of 11,000 and Candido Gonçalves called in the big blind. The Dealer gave us a flop of {a-Spades} {8-Spades} {4-Diamonds} and Gonçalves checked the action to Lefrancois and he made the continuation bet of 13,500 and Gonçalves check raised to 27,500. Lefrancois took his time before counting out a four-bet of 55,000 and Gonçalves folded.

Kenney Finds Kings

Bryn Kenney has just eliminated his first player of the day, Vitalijs Zavorotnijs being the casualty.

Zavorotnijs raised first in from middle position to 34,000 and when the action folded arond to Kenney in the blinds, he asked his opponent how many chips he had in his stack.

"180k," was the short, abrupt answer.

With his knew found knowledge, Kenney three-bet to 64,000 and then snap-called when his opponent moved all-in for his tournament life.

Zavorotnijs: {A-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Kenney: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Flop: {3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} - No ace there for Zavorotnijs and he was in grave danger of elimination

Turn: {5-Hearts} - Zavorotnijs was now drawing extremely thinly

River: {4-Hearts} - Game over for the Latvian, who picks up €7,500 for his efforts over the three days.

Meanwhile, Kenney is now up to 853,500 chips and the clear chip leader
