2011 European Poker Tour Grand Final Madrid
Kjartan Berger Jonsson opened to 25,000 and Simon Higgins called behind to see a

flop. Jonsson bet out 37,000 and Higgins raised; we don't know how much the raise was, as before we could work it out Jonsson had gone all in and Higgins had called.
Higgins: turned over
to cries of "OMG!" and the like around the table.
Jonsson: said, "I don't believe it," and turned over
for the flush draw.
Turn:
giving Jonsson some extra outs.
River: not one of those outs, but the
.
Jonsson busted out and Higgins, already the chip leader before the hand, is now way out in front on 2.6 million. He turned to the dealer. "So would you like a chocolate cake, or...?"
Across the table Ankush Mandavia was unimpressed. "That's it?"
Victor Ramdin raised to 26,000 and Ankush Mandavia shoved from the button. In the small blind, Joao Studart reshoved. Ramdin ducked out of their way and they were conflipping.
Mandavia:

Studart:

Board:

Mandavia more than doubled to 525,000 - not far off the average stack. Studart looked terribly unhappy about it and no wonder - he's been crippled to just 150,000.
Pedro Javier Piazuelo Ferrero is out, in painful circumstances - another river and another two outer after a hope-giving turn: his
in good shape preflop against
.
Flop:

...Turn:
...River: (we've sort of given the game away here):
He took his polite but slightly crestfallen leave and collects €35,000 for his efforts.
Domantas Klimciauskas tried to get rid of Alessandro Tomasin on the river of a

board with a bet of 85,000 (having also led the turn and been called) but Tomasin was reluctant to fold his
, called and took the pot from Klimciauskas with his busted flush draw
.
The flop read

and Pedro Pellicer bet. Surinder Sunar shoved, Pellicer snap-called, and they were on their backs.
Sunar:

Pellicer:

Turn:
River:
After his second place finish at the Irish Open a few weeks ago, it'll be a disappointment to the UK poker legend not to make another final table. Still, a remarkable performance. GG, S.S.
Eugene Katchalov raised to 35,000 under the gun and Philippe Boucher shoved for around 140,000. Over to Juan Maceiras, who reshoved for an awful lot. Katchalov folded
face up and the other two turned their cards over.
Maceiras:

Boucher:

Said Maceiras, "I take ace-three-five, just for you."
Replied Boucher, "OK. I'll take the four."
Flop:

which would have made Katchalov a Broadway straight. Cheerfully piped up Dag Palovic, "I do not understand the people who do not play the maths. The poker news, Eugene Katchalov is such a good player." Giggling all round the table.
Turn:
which would have made Katchalov a flush. Boucher pushed forward his
, singing the bit everyone knows from Jaws.
River:
The fun was over, and Boucher was busted. Maceiras meanwhile is up to 1.3 million.
Wow, former chip leader Ole Kristian [Removed:332] has blown up in spectacular style - the biggest pot of the tournament so far.
Eugene Yanayt opened to 32,000 in early position and [Removed:332] made it 102,000 from the button. Yanayt called, and they saw a flop.
Flop:

Check, check.
Turn:
Yanayt bet out 115,000, but [Removed:332] made it 234,000 to go. Yanyat called, and they saw the river.
River:
Yanayt checked, and [Removed:332] announced all in. After a little while, Yanayt called all in.
Yanayt:
for a set
[Removed:332]:
for a particularly bluffy second pair
The all in on the river was for 800-and-something-k, the pot around 700,000 before the river. Yanayt was still stacking his ocean of chips when we left, but we're putting him at 2.3 million for the moment. [Removed:332] has been crippled to just 80,000.
Having demonstrated some admirable grinding today, Erik van den Berg has demonstrated how not to win an all-in flip, getting it in preflop with
vs. the
of Gerardo Godinez.
"You'll probably hit a king on the flop, then I'll river a queen...it'll be the pot of the night!" said van den Berg.
He was half right - the flop came down

but after the turn
came the river
. €35,000 for the graciously losing Dutchman.
Vasily Fursov was the last player to be eliminated in the €35,000 payout bracket bringing Day 3 to an abrupt close. His pre-exit hand involved two players giving the full Dwell over his preflop mid-position raise to 43,000. Dag Palovic passed but button Alessandro Limblici (having had the clock called on him) moved all in for 212,000.
Fursov called and found his
in big trouble against Limblici's
. The board (

) offered flush possibilities but removed them with the river and he was down to <60,000.
The very next hand, in those chips went under the gun with
- it was Alessandro Limblici who found the
behind him and took the last of his bowl of rice after a

board.
