Team PokerStars Nacho Babero is no stranger to final tables and he's heading in the right direction to do so again here after he got off to a winning start here in Barcelona.
He tangled in a three-bet pot with with Christian Grundtvig and came out the better. The two players checked it all the way to the river where the final board read . The Argentine bet a near pot sized 1,550 and was called by Grundtvig who mucked when he was shown . Barbero is up to 36,000 chips.
Boom! And with an explosion of sound from the speakers and the lyrics "Everyday I'm shuffling!" from LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem blasting through the tournament area, the level is up.

Benny Spindler, Jake Cody and Bryn Kenney have both joined in on the Day 1a action. They're seated at the same table with Jeff Hakim and Team PokerStars Pro Nacho Barbero, making quite the stacked table.
There's a small bit of grumpiness coursing through the tournament area right now, unfortunately.
Until just a moment ago, there was no beverage service at all inside the tournament room, and that did not go over well at all with the caffeine-craving contingent. Another source of contention has just cropped up as well. Up in the casino, about a 100-yard walk, there is free internet. Down here, however, in the cave-like annex, there's a charge for the service. And it's pretty steep at €50 per day!
The PokerStars staff seem a bit peeved by those two situations, as well, and they seem to be trying to sort out a remedy.
It's taken over an hour to lose our first player which is a surprisingly long time. Starting with 30,000 chips is a lot but with a field of over 300 players there is normally some sort of set-up resulting in an early loss.
We failed to grab the unfortunate player's name but he's not not alone now as Ben Warrington and Christofer Erlandsson soon followed him out the exit door.
It'll come as no surprise to you when I write that I witnessed Team PokerStars Pro Lex Veldhuis opening a pot with a raise to 400. He was called in three spots en route to a flop.
All four players checked to the turn where the Dutchman had a stab with a 1,100 bet. Alejandro Pineiro called before Marius Olsvik raised to 3,225. The big blind folded but Veldhuis and Pineiro called to see the river.
The action was checked to Olsvik who bet 4,025. Velduis insta-mucked but Pineiro called and quickly mucked when Olsvik revealed for a set.
We haven't heard from him yet, but we just spotted France's Antonin Teisseire (pictured below) over on the far side of the room. In one of the most stacked final tables of this past WSOP, Teisseire outlasted the $5,000 Triple Chance field to claim Series gold and more than $825,000. He's put some of that new money to work here today, joining a table that also contains Melanie Weisner.
Teisseire's accomplishment was a fine one, but there are another two players here who have some boast-worthy WSOP credentials of their own. Martin Staszko (below left) and Anton Makiievskyi (below right) were just two of the 6,865 entrants into the Main Event last month, and now they're two of just nine. Both of the Europeans have made the November Nine, and they're both here today sharpening up a bit in advance of the biggest poker game of their lives.
Two Team PokerStars Pros just battled it out in a recent hand. The two involved were Sandra Naujoks from Germany and Marcin Horecki from Poland and we picked up the action on the flop.
The flop was and Naujoks checked to her male counterpart. Horecki bet 1,650 and Naujoks made the call to see the land on the turn. With four hearts now on board, Naujoks checked again. Horecki bet 3,000 and Naujoks called.
The river was the and completed the board. Naujoks checked and Horecki tanked for a minute or two before checking himself. He showed the , but lost to Naujoks' .
"You call on the river?" asked Horecki after the hands were tabled.
"Yep," responded Naujoks.
