John Duthie opened to 25,000 under the gun, and Lex Veldhuis defended his big blind, sitting on the direct right of Duthie. The flop and turn came , and the two men checked it through to the river. Veldhuis led out with 47,000 now, and Duthie tanked for a while and called.
Veldhuis announced his straight and tabled , and Duthie acknowledged the superior hand and slid his cards back to the dealer.
"I wish I would have shoved my pocket sevens," he lamented again regarding the previous hand.
Aleksandar Kostadinovic was faced with a bet of 57,000 from Mike "Timex" McDonald on the board with 175,000 in chips. After a minute, Kostadinovic raised all in.
"How much is it?" asked McDonald right away before adding, "That's annoying."
After getting the count, McDonald quickly said, "Whatever, I call."
Kostadinovic tabled the , but lost to McDonald's for a flush. Kostadinovic was eliminated.
Action folded to 2011 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event winner Elio Fox in the small blind and he raised to 31,000. Joni Mattila called from the big blind and the flop came down . Fox fired a continuation bet of 33,000 and Mattila called.
The turn was the and Fox bet 60,000. Mattila put in a raise, but only to 115,000. He had to make it at least 120,000. After the dealer instructed him about the correction, Mattila tossed in the extra 5,000. Fox called.
The river was the and Fox checked. Mattila asked the dealer how much Fox had left, although he was sitting right next to me.
"He has only red chips," said the dealer, as they were all in plain sight.
Mattila didn't really get the answer, but then Daniel Neilson piped up from across the table, "He has more than you." Mattila understood.
After a little bit longer, Mattila folded.
Fox tabled the to beat Mattila's . He's now up to 660,000 in chips.
Two hands ago, we watched Joseph Cheong putting out a preflop reraise to 68,000 in early position. We couldn't tell what the opening action was, but we did see Ayaz Manji shoved all in for 229,000 over the top. Cheong thought it over long and hard before surrendering, and Manji was visibly upset that he didn't get action. "You want to see it?" he asked Cheong.
"I don't care," came the reply, and Manji left his cards face-down.
"If you said you want to see, I would have showed you."
A keen observer throughout the hand, Barny Boatman smirked to Cheong and told him, "It's not his hand I'm curious about."
One hand later, Cheong opened to 26,000, and Sergey Tikhonov three-bet to 57,000. He had 340,000 chips left behind, and Cheong four-bet shoved to put the pressure on him for the full stack. After a couple minutes, Tikhonov decided to surrender.
Under the gun, Alessio Isaia raised to 26,000, and Vanessa Selbst three-bet him to 62,000. Isaia called the raise, and he called a bet of 48,000 on the flop. The turn brought the big action as the cued another bet from Selbst -- 128,000 this time. Isaia stuck in a raise to 350,000, just about how much Selbst had left. She tanked for a long time before making committing the rest with . Isaia wasn't light; he tabled to leave Selbst dead to the four tens in the deck.
The river was the , though, and that's the end of the road for Selbst, falling out with about 40 players left.
From the hijack seat, Andreas Samuelsson raised to 25,000 before play folded to Jesus Cortes on the button. He three-bet to 75,000. Play folded back to Samuelsson and he reraised all in. Cortes had about 370,000 behind and tanked for a bit before calling it off. He did so dominated with the to Samuelsson's .
The flop, turn and river ran out and Cortes headed to the payout desk.
Team PokerStars Pro is down to just two members, Lex Veldhuis and Johnny Lodden. John Duthie has just hit the rail, falling at the hands of Christopher Williamsson.
From under the gun, Duthie raised all in for 174,000. Action folded to Williamsson in the cutoff seat and he reraised all in for 250,000. Everyone else folded and it was Duthie versus Williamsson.
Duthie claimed to only look at one card and flipped over the . Our guess is that he saw the first, unless he's a really sick individual. He was dominated against the for Williamsson.
No help came on the board and Duthie made his way from the tournament area.
