Wigg Forces Winker Off The Best Hand -- Possibly

Anton Wigg won the €1k+€1k turbo bounty yesterday on his day off and now he is marching up the chip counts in the EPT Berlin Main Event.

He opened the betting with a raise to 3,400 under the gun and the action folded all the way around to Sebatian Winkler in the cutoff who asked if the raise was "34" before making the call. Stefan Huppa called in the big blind and it was three-handed to the {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop.

Huppa checked, Wigg checked behind but Winkler took a stab at the pot with a bet of 4,500. This folded out Huppa but Wigg stayed in the hand. The dealer burned a card and placed the {J-Spades} out on the turn. Again, Wigg check-called. This time an increased bet of 9,500.

The river card was the innocuous looking {5-Spades} and Wigg checked for a third time. Winkler bet again though, setting the price to play at 18,000 only to Wigg check-raise all-in; the Swede easily covering Winkler. With the cameras rolling Winkler went bright red in the face and looked to the heavens for help but none arrived. His pupils were like saucers and after 30-45 seconds he angrily mucked and looked absolutely fuming about it.

"I wasn't bluffing," said Winkler feeling for where he was in the hand.

"I can't say much, sorry" apologised Wigg, which no doubt did not help to lower Winkler's blood pressure. The German will need to compose himself again if he is to rebuild his stack and go deeper in this tournament.
