Sorel Mizzi opened to 20,000 from early position, and the action folded to Jason Mercier in the small blind. Thinking he was the first to open the pot, Mercier grabbed 24,000 and tossed it in front of him. Andrey Gulyy, who was in the big blind, pointed to Mizzi's raise and mucked his hand.
"Oh," Mercier said surprised. "Hey!"
The two shared a laugh, and because Mercier's action was a call, the dealer fanned . The rest of the hand was played out in utter silence.
Mercier tapped the felt, and Mizzi continued for 16,000. Mercier looked down at his chips, assembled a handful, and check-raised to 49,000. Mizzi thought for less than 30 seconds, and called.
