Two Immediate Doubles

On the first hand of play, there was an all in and a call on Tables 5 and 7.

On Table 5, Jose Manuel Nadal Sordo doubled through Sergio Aido Espina. The chips went in preflop, Sordo's {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} dominated Espina's {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, and the board ran out {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{a-Spades}{6-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

On Table 7, Enrico Tau, who entered the day as the shortest stack, was all in preflop with {q-Clubs}{j-Spades}. Robert Kokoska had him at risk with {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, but Tau made a queen-high straight as the board came {8-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades}{10-Spades}.

Beskrovnyy Three-Quarters of the Man he Used to be

Iosif Beskrovnyy, for long periods, must've thought nothing could go wrong for him in this tournament. He lost the chip lead for the first time in two days mid-way through yesterday, and he just lost a quarter of his stack to drop below the average. How will he cope?

He was battling with Norwegian Mads Amot and the two had reached the river of a {a-}{3-}{4-}{9-}{10-} board. Amot bet 83,000 when checked to him and the Russian called. Amot opened {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for a rivered set and. Beskrovnyy reacted as if he had an ace and angrily mucked his hand.

Parlafes New To This

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

The tournament director has been informing the players we will be playing down to 24 players regardless of how long that takes us. They were told that the decision on whether to have a dinner break or not will be made later in the day.

"How do you decide if we have a dinner break?" asked Dany Parlafes

The tournament director explained that is all depends on how many players remain at around 20:00-21:00.

"Thanks," said Parlafes, "I don't usually go this deep, so I do not know these things!"

Brammer vs. Petrov

Chris Brammer opened for 20,000 from early position and received a call from Mikhail Petrov on the button. Both blinds got out of the way, the flop came down {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, and Brammer continued for 32,000. Petrov thought for a moment before raising to 69,000, Brammer called, and the both players checked the {7-Hearts} turn and {4-Diamonds} river.

Petrov tabled {A-Spades}{10-Spades} for two pair with an ace kicker, and it was good as Brammer sent his cards to the muck.

Khvitia Crippled By Kuzminkiy

Enver Khvitia is in serious danger of elimination right now, after he lost the vast majority of his stack to Sergey Kuzminskiy.

Kuzminskiy opened to 21,000 from under the gun and his raise went unchallenged until it was up to Khvitia, on the button, to act. After a brief pause, Khvitia three-bet all-in and once the blinds folded Kuzminskyi nodded his head then called.

Kuzminskiy: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Khvitia: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

Once again a poker player's fate was going to be decided by one of tournament poker's many coinflips. The flip went the way of Kuzminskiy as the board ran out {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. Khvitia is left with dust.
