Mizzi Takes Some From Pagano

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

The first three hands at the final table were uncontested but on the fourth that changed. Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano raised to 45,000 from under the gun plus one and Sorel Mizzi three-bet from middle position to 106,000.

The action was folded back to Pagano who tanked for a bit before calling with 440,000 left behind.

The flop showed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and both players checked rather quickly. On the turn the {10-Hearts} appeared and Pagano checked again. This time Mizzi put a price on seeing the next card and bet 135,000. Pagano quickly folded and Mizzi raked in this pot.

Lavallee Catches Sabini's Bluff

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Former EPT San Remo runner up Jason Lavallee just raised to 42,000 from the hijack and both blinds decided to defend. The flop brought {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and both Mark Teltscher and Carla Sabini checked to Lavallee. The Canadian pro gave it some thought but decided not to bet.

On the turn the {K-Diamonds} hit and Teltscher checked again after which Sabini fired out 88,000. Lavallee made the call and Teltscher quickly folded.

The river brought the {8-Hearts} and this time Sabini asked Lavallee how much he had left behind. Lavallee said it was around 650,000 and his opponent bet 160,000.

Lavallee tanked for quite a while but eventually he made the call.

"Nice call," Sabini said as she turned over {4-Spades}{3-Spades}.

Lavallee showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and took down the pot holding ace high.

"I was wondering what you were up to since I folded the last king," Talal Shakerchi said with a smile as Lavallee jumps up to over a million.

Talal Shakerchi Eliminated in 9th Place (€35,695)

Talal Shakerchi - 9th Place

Jason Lavallee opened to 42,000 in middle position, Carla Sabini tried to raise to 44,000 on the button, not seeing that Lavallee had already raised, and then opted to call. Luca Pagano moved all in for 476,000 from the small blind, and Talal Shakerchi re-shoved for around 625,000 from the big blind.

"I'm outta here," Lavallee said, pitching his cards into the muck, and Sabini followed suit.

Pagano: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Shakerchi: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

According to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, these two hands chop 90.67% of the time, but Shakerchi found himself drawing dead after the flop came {5-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. The turn and river came {9-Hearts}, {10-Spades} respectively, doubling Pagano to 1.063 million chips.

The defending champion was left with around 150,000, and the action folded to him in the small blind the next hand. He moved all in, Sorel Mizzi quickly called, and the cards went on their backs.

Shakerchi: {10-Spades}{3-Spades}
Mizzi: {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

The Brit found no help on the flop ({k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}), the turn ({8-Diamonds}), or the river ({8-Clubs}), and was eliminated in ninth place.

The Fish's Turn to Bluff

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Dave Ulliott
Dave Ulliott

Carla Sabini opened to 44,000 in the cutoff, and David "Devil Fish" Ulliott defended his big blind, saying that all Sabini does is bluff.

The pair checked on a flop of {3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{q-Spades}, and the turn brought the {2-Spades}. Ulliott led out for 45,000, Sabini called, and the {5-Clubs} completed the board. Again the Fish led - this time for 100,000 - and Sabini nearly beat him into the pot.

"It was my turn to bluff," Ulliott said, keeping his cards facedown.

Sabini showed {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for ace-high, and raked in the pot.

Ulliott Takes One From Higgins

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

David Ulliott raised to 55,000 from the button and Simon Higgins called from the big blind. The flop brought {Q-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Higgins checked to Ulliott who bet 50,000.

Higgins quickly called the flop bet and checked again when the {K-Diamonds} hit on the turn. Ulliott bet 65,000 and Higgins called once more.

The river brought the {7-Hearts} and both players checked. Ulliott showed {Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and took down the pot.

Double Up For Teltscher

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Sorel Mizzi raised to 40,000 from early position and Tamer Kamel called from the button. Mark Teltscher was seated in the small blind and he three-bet to 320,000 with just 60,000 chips left behind. Mizzi moved all in, Kamel folded and Teltscher called.

Mizzi: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Teltscher: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{J-Spades} and Teltscher found himself a big double up.

Higgins Shoves on Teltscher

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Simon Higgins raised to 40,000 from the cutoff and Mark Teltscher three-bet to 92,000 from the small blind. Carla Sabini folded her big blind and Higgins shoved for around 400,000 chips.

It seemed like Teltscher had not anticipated this move and after about ten seconds he shook his head and folded his cards.

Ulliott Wins; Lavallee Learns

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

David "Devil Fish" Ulliott raised to 50,000 in the cutoff, Tamer Kamel defended his big blind, and the flop came {10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. Kamel check-called a bet of 60,000, and both players knuckled when the turn was the {3-Hearts}.

The {6-Spades} completed the board, Kamel checked a third time, and Ulliott fired out 90,000. Kamel went into the tank and while he thought, Devil Fish began mumbling under his breath. Finally Kamel called, and Ulliott ripped over {10-Spades}{9-Clubs} for a pair of tens.

Kamel mucked.

"Nice bet," Mark Teltscher said to Ulliott.

"When they check the turn, they call the river," Ulliott responded. "You just have to dodge the bullet."

There was a brief pause.

"I'm learning so much today," Jason Lavallee announced.

Pagano Gives Up Some

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Carla Sabini raised to 60,000 preflop and she was immediately three-bet to 150,000 by Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano. The action was folded back around to Sabini who called quickly.

The flop brought {10-Spades}{7-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Sabini checked to Pagano who bet 175,000. Sabini put together a raise and made it 350,000 total after which Pagano folded his cards.

Sabini edges closer to chip leader David Ulliott and it's still a wide open battle in this High Roller event.
