Who Isn't Here?

Level 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

Some players have bought into the High Roller but have chosen not to take their seats at the start, instead preferring to show up fashionably late. These include Marvin Rettenmaier, EPT Berlin champion Davidi Kitai, Kent Lundmark and Team PokerStars Pro Vicky Coren.

A Cagey Affair

Level 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

With each player having invested a minimum of €10,300 and each of them being super deepstacked, play has been a cagey affair. With so little to gain, but so much to lose, in the early levels the players are refusing to get out of line.

Two very brief hands just went down on separate tables. Roberto Romanello opened to 525 and picked up the blinds and antes, while Dominik Nitsche opened to 600 on his table and although it looked like Govert Metaal was lining up at least a call it never happened and Nitsche won the pot uncontested.

Fifth Table Open

Level 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

A fifth table was just opened as more players arrived. See below for new faces we recoginise. We'll have a full player list in time.

Immediate Redraw

Level 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

As more players were expected at the start of play than have actually turned up, the players have been redrawn onto three tables.

Marvin Rettenmaier and Marko Neumann turned up before the redraw took place and decided to go back to bed for a while and let the tournament build up a bit. I'm sure they'll be back down soon enough when they realize they have a near full table of players.

Three Players Before Kick-Off

The tournament directors are waiting for at least three players to turn up at one table before play can commence.

A total of 27 players have registered so far and this will steadily grow throughout the day.

Day 1 of the PokerStars.fr EPT Deauville High Roller event kicks off today and we're expecting it to attract a large number of players. The formula is the same as normal: it's a €10,300 entry event and each player is allowed one re-buy when/if they bust their stack, and it will be played eight-handed throughout.

Play is due to kick off at 1pm CET and ten one-hour levels is the schedule for today, plus a dinner break, which will take us to beyond a 1am finish.

At the moment the plan is to play this down over two days but there is room to add an extra day if the field grows to a substantial enough size.
