Jacobson Wins Monster Pot; Stretches Clear

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Martin Jacobson - the man to catch
Martin Jacobson - the man to catch

It might just be in the stars that Martin Jacobson will win this tournament. He's taken out the dangerous Vladimir Troyanovski in a pot worth around 600,000 chips.

All the chips went in preflop with Jacobson holding ace-king to Troyanovski's pocket jacks. The overnight chip leader couldn't hold and leaves four places short of the money.

Lefrancois Busts; Final 16 Redraw

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Pascal Lefrancois
Pascal Lefrancois

Pascal Lefrancois has just been eliminated by Vojtech Ruzicka and the final 16 players are redrawing for the last time.

Lefrancois got the last of his chips into the middle with {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and Ruzicka, who has shown a penchant for making big calls, called with {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. The board ran out {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Lefrancois' tournament came to an abrupt end.

Berende Bust

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Paul Berende on day 1
Paul Berende on day 1

When a man is wandering around looking into his phone when he should be sat at the poker table, something is up.

Paul Berende was that man and Paul Berende is bust.

He re-shipped ace-nine in a raiser's ace-queen for ten big blinds and failed to suck out.

Jacobson and MacPhee Collide

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Martin Jacobson and Kevin MacPhee have just collided over on Table 22 and it was Jacobson who added more chips to his ever growing stack.

It was a three bet pot, Jacobson in the big blind and MacPhee on the button. The board read {6-Spades}{j-Spades}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Jacobson fired a 78,000 chip bet at MacPhee. The draw heavy board received no further action because MacPhee folded.

It should be very interesting to see if these two poker Goliath's clash again. With no disrespect to their table mates, MacPhee and Jacobson are the stronger players on Table 22 but they have already shown signs they will not avoid each other.

Limped Pot Craziness Costs Ktorza

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Philippe Ktorza
Philippe Ktorza

Sometimes limped pots can cause all sorts of weird scenarios post flop. That happened in a hand just now that cost Philippe Ktorza his tournament life.

Ilan Boujenah limped the button and Timothy Reilly completed before Ktorza checked his option.

The flop fell {7-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs} and it was Ktorza who was the first to bet, for 13,000. Boujenah folded before Reilly put in a check-raise. In a flash Ktorza shoved and Reilly called.

Ktorza: {7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for two pair.
Reilly: {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a straight.

The board ran out {j-Spades}{a-Clubs} and Ktorza left in disbelief.

Boujenah always likes to cause a little mischief, even if it's accidental.

Hajiyev Busts to Jacobson's Jacks

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Ramin Hajiyev has just been eliminated over on Table 22, Martin Jacobson was the culprit.

The action folded around to Hajiyev in the cutoff and he pushed all-in for around 60,000. Jacobson called in the big blind to put Hajiyev at risk of being busted out.

Jacobson: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Hajiyev: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Hajiyev paired his nine on a {8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop but the {8-Diamonds} turn kept him behind. The {7-Clubs} river improved Jacobson to an unnecessary straight, and Hajiyev headed to the rail.

MacPhee's Top Pair is Good

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Alexandre Reard opened from under the gun and made it 12,000 to play. Reard met some resistance from Kevin MacPhee a couple of seats to his left when MacPhee three-bet to 35,000. Reard called and it was heads-up to the {5-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{5-Spades} flop.

Reard checked to MacPhee, who declined to bet and checked behind. The {3-Hearts} saw Reard check then call a 29,000 bet from MacPhee. That was the last of the aggression as both players checked the {6-Spades} river.

MacPhee turned over {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and a disappointed Reard flashed a pair of red queens.
