Floor Called to Rule on Tepper No Check

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Three players had reached the river of a board reading {10-Hearts}{k-Spades}{6-Spades}{a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Jean Tepper was in the small blind, Toby Lewis in the big blind and Artem Litvinov in late position. Lewis checked and Litvinov checked saying “Keep it nice and friendly.” Tepper replied “I can’t check.” And bet 3,000. Lewis protested that he can’t bet as the other two payers in the hand had checked and he could be angle shooting. Tepper insisted he hadn’t checked and indeed no one would say that he had including the dealer. The floor was called and even though the floor agreed that he hadn’t checked it was ruled that because there was two lots of action behind he couldn’t bet. Tepper argued for a bit but in the end he took back the bet with good grace. Litvinov had {q-}{10-} but Lewis was ahead with {k-}{3-}. Tepper mucked his hand. Litvinov insisted he had saved himself 3,000 either way because Lewis would have had to fold and he would have snapped him of with his hand.

Never Mind the Pollaks

Benjamin Pollak
Benjamin Pollak

Benjamin Pollak opened to 2,500 preflop and Michael Tureniec called. Ayaz Manji, smoking on an electric cigarette in the small blind, checked his cards before taking another drag and zipping up his hoodie. Manji raised to 11,300 and Pollak folded.

Tureniec turned his neck like an animatronic owl towards Manji's stack. He picked up a stack of 5k chips and moved it in the middle to cover Manji.

The Portuguese player looked to Pollak, "Always you make me trouble. Three time I three-bet you..."

Manji folded {J-Clubs}{J-Spades} face up.

Thomas Rivers an Ace

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

On a final board of {6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} Konstantin Puchkov checked it over to Julian Thomas. They had been involved in a number of pots and Puchkov always seemed to get the better of the German. It didn’t look as if there had been a whole lot of action down the streets and now Thomas made a small bet of 1,500. Thomas turned over {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} but it was no good as Puchkov had {a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for two pair. “Why the ace?” Said a frustrated Thomas. Zimnan Ziyard said, “You’re very brave to open the that river against him.” No one disagreed.

Ziyard made the call and the two players turned their cards over. Hajiyev had {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} against the {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} of Ziyard. The board ran out {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Ziyard doubled up. “Nice hand.” Sighed a disappointed Hajiyev.

Lauri Pesonen raised and when ElkY shoved Pesonen made the call. Elky had flopped top set {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and Pesonen was flushing with {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. N diamonds came to the rescue however and Elky doubled up. Pesonen was still alive but lost over half his stack.
