Reporting from a Room Called Bond… James Bond

Here in the Casino Barrière the meeting rooms are all named after movie characters, a nod to the famous film festival that descends upon Deauville each year. We are reporting on the tourney from a room (or "salle") called Bond… James Bond.
As it happens, the famous British Secret Service agent began his fictional life in a casino very similar to the one in which the tournament is being played. Ian Fleming introduced Bond in his 1953 novel Casino Royale, which is set in a northern France city (Royale-les-Eaux) based in large part on Deauville where Fleming gambled in a casino as a young man.
