The Chip Lead Changes Hands

Level 22 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Hand #166: Dan Cates limped from the small blind with the {k-Spades}{3-Spades} only to have Daniel Colman raise to 420,000 from the big with the {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}. Cates made the call, the flop fell {3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, and it looked like the fireworks would fly.

Cates checked, Colman bet 450,000, and Cates just made the call. The {K-Diamonds} turn improved Cates to a full house, but it was also a scare card to Colman. Cates checked, and Colman used two hands to slide out a big bet of 1.15 million. Cates took his time before calling, and the {10-Diamonds} completed the board on the river. Cates checked for a third time, but Colman checked behind.

With that, Cates took the chip lead from Colman in the last hand of Level 11.
