It took over 300 hands, nearly 18 hours of play, and seven eliminations, but the 2014 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final €10,600 Main Event has finally come to a close. Capturing the title and the massive €1.24 million top prize was Italy's Antonio Buonanno — the only player at the final table not to qualify for the event online.
The day was long, but eventful, and in the end it was Jack Salter and Buonanno left to duke it out in what would be an epic heads-up battle. The two traded blows, double ups, bluffs, and value bets for several long hours into the breakfast hours in Monaco, but Salter would end up in second place.
After a failed float attempt followed by a long tank that resulted in a fold caused by the time clock running out on Salter, he was left at a 3-1 chip deficit to his Italian counterpart. Then, things were quickly over.
On the final hand, Buonanno raised with the and Salter shoved with the . Buonanno called and held as the board ran out a rather uneventful .

The flop came down and kept Buonanno in front without much of a seat. The turn delivered the and that gave Salter a few more outs to a straight.
On the river, the hit and that was it. Buonanno had secured the victory, sending Salter home in second place and winning the 2014 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final €10,600 Main Event.

Hand #244: Buonanno raised to 500,000 on the button with . Salter picked up and made it 1.35 million. Buonanno moved all in and Salter quickly called.
The flop came , Buonanno flopped top pair but Salter had a royal flush draw. The turn meant Salter had to hit one of his 14 outs, the was not one of those as Buonanno made a straight on the river.
Hand #231: Jack Salter raised to 520,000 preflop. Before Antonio Buonanno could three-bet to an amount we could see, Salter had moved all in and Buonanno called.

The flop came and Buonanno took the lead. The on the turn changed nothing. The river was the and Buonanno doubled back up.
Hand #205: Buonanno opened with and Salter folded.
Hand #206: Salter found a real hand with and opened for 415,000. Buonanno didn't have a bad hand either with and made it 1,000,000. Salter four-bet to 2,225,000 and Buonanno called.
With now 4,510,000 in the pot, the flop came . Buonanno had wild plans and bet out 1,500,000, one-third of the pot.
Salter moved his hands up in the air and formed a triangle with his fingers like some out of fashion gang sign; All In!
Buonanno instantly folded. Salter now has a sizable lead over his Italian opponent.

Hand #73: Salter opened and everyone folded.
Hand #74: Malte Moennig opened the button to 205,000 with . Buonanno in the small blind had and three-bet to 550,000. Salter folded his big blind and action was back on Moennig.
The commentators talked about either folding or calling, but Moennig opted for a different strategy. He shoved all in for 3,295,000 and Buonanno made the snap call.
The on the flop didn't connect with either. The made for some choppertunities, but the on the river was a blank and Malte Moennig was eliminated in third place.
Buonanno instantly wanted to make a deal, while Moennig was still standing there.
Hand #49: Karlsson moved in under the gun for 1,340,000 with . Moennig in the cutoff asked for a count as he had . He then moved all in as well for 1,565,000.
Jack Salter had left the table in the mean time, and folded. The floorman ruled Salter a two hand penalty for acting out of turn.
Roca had in the big blind and faced two all ins in front of him. He called in the end and had the chance to bust two players. 4,110,000 in the main pot and 450,000 in the side pot.
The on the flop was a blow for Roca. The on the turn meant Karlsson was definitely out in 6th place. The on the river was a blank and we had a bust out and near triple up. The remaining four players are now guaranteed €419,000.
Hand #25: Jack Salter raised to 125,000 from the cutoff with and won the pot.
Hand #26: Mayu Roca made it 125,000 with and everyone folded.
Hand #27: Jack Salter raised to 125,000 preflop with and Malte Moennig moved all in for 1,015,000 with . Sebastian von Topczer picked up and got a count before making the call. Salter folded.
The flop came and Moennig gained a flush draw, the turn changed nothing and the river left just five players remaning.
