A Twenty Minute Break

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

As the tournament is down to 24 players, a redraw is done. There's a 20-minute break to accommodate the process underway. When the players return they'll play 15 more minutes in the current level (20,000/40,000 with a 5,000 ante), and 90 minutes in the following level (25,000/50,000 with a 5,000 ante) without a break in between.

Sousa Hits a Set

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Pascal Lefrancois made it 80,000 to go pre flop and he got called by his neighbor Rui Sousa and big blind Andreas Samuelsson.

All three of them checked the flop of {K-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{A-Spades} and the {8-Clubs} hit the turn. Samuelsson and Lefrancois checked again and Sousa made a bet of 145,000. Samuelsson folded, Lefrancois called.

The river {7-Diamonds} had Lefrancois check again. Sousa bet out 380,000 and Lefrancois was quick to call. Sousa showed {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Lefrancois had to muck.

Lopez Doubles Through Kempe

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Rainer Kempe opened under the gun to 115,000 and action folded around to Mario Lopez in the big blind and he called. The flop came {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Lopez checked with 500,000 behind. Kempe made a bet of 95,000 and Lopez check raised to 400,000 after some thinking. Kempe moved all in and Lopez committed his last 100,000 as well by calling.

Rainer Kempe: {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Mario Lopez: {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The {6-Hearts} on the turn and {9-Hearts} on the river were blanks and Lopez doubled.

Relative Brutality for McDonald

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Stuart McDonald just ended up putting all but 80,000 of his chips at risk before the flop, and he was up against Pascal LeFrancois. Before the dealer could even put the flop out, McDonald threw his last chips into the middle and LeFrancois called.

The flop showed {K-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} when the following cards were turned face up.

McDonald: {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
LeFrancois: {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

McDonald stood up right away and said, "I'm not superstitious, whatever happens happens."

"What do you want?" McDonald asked LeFrancois.

"A king would be good," LeFrancois said, calling for a split pot.

The turn brought the {2-Spades}, and McDonald said, "That's kind of what I wanted to call for."

"Let's do a three now," McDonald continued, hoping to double his stack.

The river brought the {A-Spades} and that gave both players two pair with a king kicker.

"That's relatively brutal," McDonald sighed, as he missed out on a double up.

"I hadn't even thought of the ace," LeFrancois said with a smile, as the pot was being chopped up.

McDonald however, lives to fight another all in as he's still among the short stacks in the room.

Walker Doubles Up

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Cristinel Sandu opened for 110,000, and he called Chris Walker's small blind push for 330,000 total. Sandu had {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs} and was up against Walker's {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

The flop brought some excitement as it hit both: {J-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. The {10-Hearts} on the turn brought something for both as well, and the {4-Diamonds} finally hit Walker. Double up!
