Akkari's Turn Bet Gets the Job Done

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Ari Engel opened for 500 from the hijack and Italy's Mariano Martiradonna called from the cutoff. Poland's Marcin Dziubdziela did the same from the button, Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari called from the big blind, and four players took a flop of {4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, which they all checked.

When the {10-Clubs} appeared on the turn, Akkari led out for 1,150 and one by one his opponents all folded.

Not much of a hand, but it gave us a good excuse to updates you on some counts from the table, which also houses Jeff Madsen.

Calamusa Trips Up Kortas

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

France's Pierre Calamusa raised to 500 from middle position and the player in the small blind called. Sweden's Ghattas Kortas then three-bet to 1,700 from the big, Calamusa called, and the small blind got out of the way.

The {5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} flop saw Kortas continue for 2,100, and Calamusa called to see the {Q-Hearts} turn. This time Kortas checked, but still called when Calamusa bet 4,100. The {6-Hearts} river saw Kortas check for a second time, and he hit the tank when Calamusa fired out two blue T5,000 chips for a bet of 10,000.

Eventually he made the call, but he no doubt regretted it as Calamusa tabled the {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the win.

Nabuurs Bluffs With Queens

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Puk Nabuurs opened under the gun and the player in the big blind defended. The flop came {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and the big blind lead out for about half the size of the pot. Nabuurs called.

The {2-Hearts} fell on the turn and the big blind now slid 2,000 forward. Again Nabuurs called.

The river came the {8-Diamonds} and the big blind bet out 6,000. Nabuurs shoved for about 20,000 and the big blind folded after several minutes of tanking.

Nabuurs slammed {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} on the table and with a big smile said "I'm a plo player, I had two blockers!"

Nitsche Puts Mattia to the Test

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

We happened upon a pot with roughly 9,000 in the pot and a board reading {3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. Dominik Nitsche simply moved all in from the under-the-gun position to put the pressure on Gianluca Mattia, who was sitting with 6,400 un the hijack. Mattia hit the tank for several minutes, but eventually settled on a fold.

Nice Pot for Petrangelo

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Sofia Lovgren opened for 525 under the gun and the opponent to her direct left made the call. From there, Azerbaijan's Agshin Rasulov limped from middle position, Nick Petrangelo three-bet to 1,800 from the small blind, and both Lovgren and the player to her left folded. Rasulov opted to make the call and then fired out 2,600 after Petrangelo checked the {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop.

Petrangelo, who finished third in yesterday's €25K High Roller, made the call and then turned right around and led out for 4,800 on the {Q-Spades} turn. Rasulov called and then watched Petrangelo fire out 10,700 on the {7-Diamonds} river. That did the trick as Rasulov released his hand.

Meanwhile, Gerald Karlic was eliminated from the tournament.

Van Zadelhoff Back in Action

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Steven van Zadelhoff
Steven van Zadelhoff

Steven van Zadelhoff made some small bluffs early on today, but kept running into full houses and lost some chips because of it. The Dutchman told us how he battled back though. Amongst them was a hand against his neighbor Patrick Leonard.

Van Zadelhoff raised the button and Leonard in the small blind and the player in the big blind both called. Leonard and his neighbor checked on {J-Spades}{6-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and Van Zadelhoff made a continuation bet. Just Leonard called and the British pro living in Budapest check called another bet on the {2-Spades} turn. The river was the {A-Hearts} and Leonard checked a third time. Van Zadelhoff bet 6,200 and after a long tank Leonard folded. Van Zadelhoff mucked and was finally back in the black.

Speranza Done and Dusted

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

We saw a frustrated looking Gianluca Speranza exiting the tournament floor. A quick check of his former table indicated he'd been eliminated after getting his chips in on the river holding the {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} with a board reading {10-Clubs}{q-Spades}{k-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Unfortunately for him, the UK's Mudasser Hussain had rivered two pair with the {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

Cracked Aces Send Silva to the Rail

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

We missed the action unfold, but we do know that Miguel Gomes Silva was just eliminated from the tournament when his aces were cracked. While we're not 100% certain, it looked as if the chips got in on the river with the board reading {2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. Silva tabled the {a-Clubs}{a-Spades} but discovered that his opponent had rivered a set with the {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}.
