Australian Becomes PokerStars' Sixth Spin & Go Millionaire This Week

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

The live Spin & Go tournaments, which debuted here at EPT12 Malta, have come to an end here at Portomaso Casino, but that hasn't stopped the online version from making headlines. In fact, it seems like everyday the world's biggest online poker site is minting a new millionaire.

According to PokerStars, Australia's "ifipushud325" became the sixth Spin & Go millionaire this week. That's a run that has smashed all expectations as players across the world have benefited from this extraordinary run of good fortune.

The $5 buy-in Spin & Go tournament (Tournament # 1,361,869,792) started at 5.48 p.m. Australian ET on October 28 (2.48 p.m. US ET, 6.48 a.m. GMT on October 25) and concluded at 6.00 p.m., making a wonderful afternoon down under after twelve minutes of poker play.

The runner up was "ModusPonen7" from Germany, who won $100,000. The third-place finisher was "FlyEko" from Russia, who also won $100,000. The tournament was over in just 66 hands.

"ifipushud325" had been all in and at risk of elimination twice during the tournament when heads up against "ModusPonen7" – first when he had {A-Clubs}{2-Hearts} all in preflop against the {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} of "ModusPonen7" in Hand #35, and Hand #50 against where he had {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} against {10-Clubs}{A-Hearts}. In the latter hand, "ModusPonen7" paired his ten, but "ifipushud325" hit a set of eights on a board of {8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{Q-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

Hand #66 was the final hand of the tournament, when "ifipushud325" moved all in with the {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and was called by "ModusPonen7’s" {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. "ifipushud325" made a pair of queens on a board of {J-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Spades}{Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, and with that, became poker’s newest millionaire, and the sixth new millionaire in the last week.

In addition to this tournament, there has been an unprecedented spate of instant millionaires made on Spin & Go tournaments this week:

  • On 26 October, ‘handbt1’ from Germany won $1 million from a $5 tournament.
  • On 26 October, ‘barrakuuda4’ from Estonia won $1 million from a $100 tournament.
  • On 25 October, ’prophethicks’ from England won $1 million from a $5 tournament.
  • On 22 October, ‘wrawras’ from Brazil won $1 million from a $100 tournament.
  • On 21 October, ‘Samara Lúcio’ from Brazil won $1 million from a $5 tournament.

Spin & Go's are fast-paced, 3-Max Hyper Turbo tournaments which feature 500 chip starting stacks. Each tournament has a randomly drawn prize pool that will award between two and 3,000 times your buy-in. PokerStars offer Spin & Go's at nine different buy-in levels: $0.50, $1, $3, $5, $7, $15, $30, $60 and $100.
