Welcome to the EPT Dublin €5,300 Main Event Day 1a

Trinity College
Trinity College

Welcome to the PokerNews live coverage of the EPT12 Dublin Main Event! After a long hiatus, the stop is back in the calendar, with players looking to convert the €5,300 buy-in into a potentially even bigger payday.

It’s been eight years since the stop last appeared in an EPT schedule, but it’s been welcomed back by all involved, as we have already enjoyed several days’ worth of exciting poker action in the UKIPT Main Event as well as the €25k High Roller, both of which reach their conclusions today at the Royal Dublin Society.

There have been four previous winners of EPT Main Events:

SeasonWinnerEntrantsPrize
1Ram Vaswani163€93,000
2Mats Gavatin248€317,000
3Roland De Wolfe389€554,300
4Reuben Peters221€532,620

With two day ones to choose from, we will have to wait and see just who enters, and aims to add their name to the list of winners. Many big names are in town for the UKIPT and EPT festival, and we will keep you right up to date with which of them are playing day 1a of the Main Event right here on PokerNews.com

Disastrous Start for Frey

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Picking up the action on the {Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop with around 2,000 in the pot, Kyle Frey bet 1,000 from the small blind and his opponent on the button called. The {3-Spades} turn was checked through before Frey bet the {J-Diamonds} river for 1,500. His opponent raised to 4,000 and Frey called to muck when shown {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for two pair.

Zisimopoulos Starts Well

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Albert Sapiano, Thomas Finneran, Jeremy Nock and Georgios Zisimopoulos have all been spotted in the field as well. Nock and Zisimopoulos are on the same table in the very corner of the room with the Greek raising it up early on. Nock called the raise to 250 and they checked the flop {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and the {2-Spades} on the turn.

After the {5-Clubs} river, Nock folded to a bet of 200 and faced a raise to 300 shortly after to make the call. On the flop {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, Zisimoulos fired a continuation bet and Nock folded to let the Greek grin. "Oh come on," he said and flashed pocket deuces for bottom set.

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Joining the action on the {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} turn, Christopher Kruk bet 2,250 and Andreas Leledakis called to see the {J-Spades} on the river. Kruk bet 5,300 and the Greek squeezed to 12,000 with the Canadian eventually calling. Leledakis flipped over {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} for a full house and Kruk sighed before mucking his cards.
